can we have a 'LIKE' button on every posters post??

nightshade · 10/10/2011 12:31

sometimes i don't wish to comment but want to acknowledge that i like a mumsnetter's post or response. i keep going to click the like button, as on facebook but inevitably find that it is not there!!

Just to be clear, Pinot, I meant that as a compliment! :)

fastweb · 10/10/2011 16:26

NB, BEFORE ANYONE GOES TONTO, WE ARE NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CONSIDERING TICKERS, CUSTOMISABLE OR OTHERWISE.

Grin

Even with that NB I feel perhaps cloning sarahstratton's anti meteorite bin may be a good idea, so the buns bounce off bystanders harmlessly.

Will one be allowed to like in an anon fashion, or will one face the igonomy of being revealed as a like button liker ?

Ie just x number of people liked this post, or "this post was liked by fastweb, and assorted other like button users"

SuePurblybilt · 10/10/2011 16:29

I don't get how it can be customisable anyway. So if I opt out, can people not 'like' me or they can and I can't see it?

It's all 'orrible. Stoppit please.

TheRhubarb · 10/10/2011 16:32

Can I second the suggestion that if we are to have like buttons that we also have something like 'what a crock of shite' buttons?
'Tis only fair.

And a thumbs up, thumbs down, 2 fingered salute and 1 fingered wave.

Just for good measure.

FetchezLaVache · 10/10/2011 16:33

Oh please, definitely not named like button likers. I had an unpleasant 7 seconds once reading a thread on the Other Place some evil sod on here had linked to, and the same person had "liked" every post on the thread. I was a little bit sick in my mouth.

nightshade · 10/10/2011 16:35

'like' rhubarb!

OP posts:
TheRhubarb · 10/10/2011 16:39

'flicks V's at thread'

fastweb · 10/10/2011 16:42

Oh please, definitely not named like button likers

So that's two votes for "liking" in an anonomous fashion rather than named liking.

Are we a quiche yet?

How many Mnetters does it take to make a quiche?

fastweb · 10/10/2011 16:49

I don't get how it can be customisable anyway

I guess you'd have to opt in to the whole like thing, so either you see a MN with likes, and like buttons, or you see a like free zone and are oblivious to it all.

Or opt out.

You might have to opt out of the like function.

toosoontoosoon · 10/10/2011 16:51

NO

Oh FGS PLEEEEASE

It's turning into fecking facebook

I will have nowhere to GO on the interweb. NOwhere.

Sex equipment
like buttons

Nope
Don't do it.

toosoontoosoon · 10/10/2011 16:53

and what is the actual POINT of a like button? Eh? So the cowardly lurkers can tick it and feel somehow unburdened?

It is as Pinot said a fucking stupid and pointless idea. People who like like buttons have got facebook. They can piss off there.

QueenOfFeckingEverything · 10/10/2011 16:53

God no, please no.

toosoontoosoon · 10/10/2011 16:57

OP, why is facebook not enough for you? It's not reasonable to expect all your websites to be the same. It would be boring.

Please don't push for this, it will really upset me. Thankyou Thanks

BrainSurgeon · 10/10/2011 16:57

OK OK I see the majority don't like the idea (ha).

I'm not saying we should adopt the same thumbs up as FB - no way. But would still consider a way of indicating agreement/disagreement in a quiet lazy way. I think MNHQ or Tech or whoever should come up with something totally new and ingenious and very clever and unique to Mumsnet.

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 10/10/2011 16:59

The like buttons on NMs are BRILLIANT.

So so easy to wind someone up by likeing anyone who disagrees with the bigotted twaddle they are spouting.

I wonder why I was banned?

TheRhubarb · 10/10/2011 17:00

How about this?

"Rhubarb0 has 1,345 posters who agree with her but are too lazy to say so"
"Pinot has 3,456 posters who think she's talking out of her arse but are too cowardly to say so"

Wink Grin
GetOrfMo1Land · 10/10/2011 17:00

Oh I take it all back if there are trouble making passive aggressive benefits to like buttons. Grin

PinotScreechio · 10/10/2011 17:03

It's the way I tell em, Rhubs Wink

startail · 10/10/2011 17:04

NO!
