said to restart pc so it could deal with it, so I did that.
Came back onto MN again and same thing again:
Am creating this post so I can report my own post and let HQ know that way.
Havent had any other websites open, so has to be MN - didn't they have this problem the other week, or something similar?

Anyone else?

Hello. Thanks for alerting us to this.

Any chance you remember what ads were displaying when you logged on?

Conflugenglugen · 01/10/2011 10:31

Yes, just happened to me too. Right now. From the Active Conversations page.

HelenMumsnet · 01/10/2011 10:35

Did you see any ads on that page, Conflugenglugen?

whatstream · 01/10/2011 10:36

Hi there, it was Here Comes the Highway Rat when I first came onto MN.

IShallWearMidnight · 01/10/2011 10:36

I had this, and it was something to do with java (I came straight to active convos, but can't remember what ads there were, sorry).

CointreauVersial · 01/10/2011 10:37

Yes! I've just had "Malicious Toolkit" blocked by Norton. Hmmm.....fishy......

whatstream · 01/10/2011 10:38

another box popped up since then, saying Adobe Acrobat not working properly or somthing????
Has triggered my pc to start scanning now.

Conflugenglugen · 01/10/2011 10:40

there were ads, but i'm not sure which ones ... hang on ... will click on back to see if there's anything there, because it'll probably be from my cache ...

HelenMumsnet · 01/10/2011 10:41

Thanks - this is all v helpful.

Any info you can give us about what you're seeing - and what ads are displaying - will help us hugely in trying to sort this out.

Conflugenglugen · 01/10/2011 10:43

Okay - a TalkTalk banner at the top; Miller Homes; Great Little Trading Company. That's everything. I had kept my Active Conversations page open, so these are the original ads.

ditavonteesed · 01/10/2011 10:43

me too norton found trojan

whatstream · 01/10/2011 10:44

sorry, have to go out now

whojamaflip · 01/10/2011 10:45

Hi just had this as well - did a full computer scan and there were 3 Trojans detected - can't remember what the ads were but I was in Active convos at the time. (using explorer and AVG) Cheers

bluelaguna · 01/10/2011 10:45

I had a virus alert perhaps 10-15 mins (ish?) ago as well - only thing open was MN, but sorry no clue re ads.

Conflugenglugen · 01/10/2011 10:46

Okay - gone into my McAfee log, and this is what it reported:

10:31:03 - Real-Time scan picked up the following: FakeAlert-WinWebSec!env.g (Trojan) - Repaired/Removed

Date Added: 01/03/2011
Origin: Unknown

HelenMumsnet · 01/10/2011 10:58

Thanks all.

OK, we've disabled some ads and are investigating further.

Do please let us know if you get any further warnings like this.

Pinot · 01/10/2011 11:02

I had this too - my virus scanner had about 8 or 9 warnings. Sorry I didn't think to check the ads bu I'll know for future reference.

ChippingIn · 01/10/2011 11:04

I have had Nortons finding trojans as well. I think it was MN as I've never had any problems with the other sites I had open, but of course I can't be sure. I had already moved on by the time the alert came through so I don't which ads were there - sorry!

HelenMumsnet · 01/10/2011 11:13

@Pinot

No need to apologise Pinot! But yes, this is usually an ad thang, so def worth noting for next time

Pinot · 01/10/2011 11:28

I'm in a box

gorionine · 01/10/2011 11:36

I have Avast anti-virus and it detects something wrong too, i have not clicked on any ads, just threads inactive convos.

gorionine · 01/10/2011 11:37

in active convos not inactive convos!

ShowOfHands · 01/10/2011 11:41

Avast is saying it on every page, active, threads I'm on, single threads, regardless of the ad. It says the threat is MN itself whereas when it did it before (couple of weeks ago) it listed the ad as a threat. Innocent smoothies, vodafone, something to do with hotpants are the first three ads I noticed but Avast says it's a malware from MN.

crazynanna · 01/10/2011 11:46

This is about the 3rd thread on this.
Are we being invaded Shock
