Come and celebrate our new [thanks] emoticon by saying Thank You to a Mumsnetter who's made a difference. Spot prizes to be won and all!

Hello.

We have a new emoticon: Thanks

It's meant as a way for say thank you to someone for something nice/funny/amazing they've done or said. And it's in no small way inspired by the lovely Mumsnet Blanket Crew who've been agitating- very politely but very persistently Wink - for a thank you emoticon for some time now. (They originally wanted a star but we thought a bunch of flowers probably had a bit less of the 'prefecty'/'sticker chart' thing going on.)

We want to mark the arrival of our new emoticon by starting this special Thank You thread - and inviting you to say Thanks to another Mumsnetter who's made a difference to you.

Perhaps it's a Mumsnetter who has posted (or PM'd) something that helped you or supported you or inspired you ? or just made you laugh like a drain. Or maybe it's someone who's done something extraordinary for you, off-board or on.

Do come and tell us about it - and thank her/him for it - here. We're hoping for a thread full of Thanks for some truly lovely MNers.

Oh, and we've also got some rather covetable prizes - books, toys and some very cool (child and adult) bike helmets from Bell - to give away as spot prizes. Anyone who posts on this thread is in with a chance of winning - we'll pull names at random out of a hat in a couple of days' time.

Thanks, MNHQ

I'd like to thank Toughasoldboots for always remembering me from our brief encounter and saying hello when we occasionally meet on here Thanks

also like very much to thank flight for leaving when she did, as she was a complete cunt and everyone was really grateful when she finally fucked off. Smile

heggertyhaggerty · 02/10/2011 19:41

(joke)

heggertyhaggerty · 02/10/2011 21:13

Sorry for the threadkill Blush

I was trying to be funny, it was totally directed at myself. I would never say something like that about anyone else.

cupofteaplease · 02/10/2011 21:28

I don't really know where to start in thanking people on MN. I couldn't have got through the past 16 days without the support I have received from literally hundreds of posters. So Thanks to each and every poster who has offered me kind words, prayers or practical advice. This Thanks thread has given me the opportunity to go back and read through my entire thread about Beatrice and I would like to say a special Thanks to:

SleepySox
ChippingIn for suggesting a gentle way of explaining Beatrice's condition to her sisters.
TheOriginalFAB for staying positive.
Whatevertheweather for sharing her experience, even though it is still so recent and raw Sad
DaisySteiner for posting the most perfect poem- I read it every day.
Neverlandpirate for your heartfelt prayers.
LottieJenkins for giving a prayer pebble for Beatrice in church Smile
Four4me for posting some very sensible advice.
Sidge for sharing the good news of her dd.
BobLoblaw for giving me hope.
thefirstMrsDeVere for comforting words.
Riveninabingle for giving me an honest view of the future.
nickschick and ledkr for your lovely stories of hope.
DutchOma for practical help.
eaglewings for spiritual help.
NorthernLurker for your beautiful words, and for the prayers.
ShoutyHamster for your kind offer.
ThumbWitch for being practical and positive Smile
LissieLou, MmeLindor and CestTout for organising something truely amazing.
KnottyLocks for rallying the crafters.

Thanks also to everyone who has made a donation or offered to knit something or say a prayer for Beatrice. I can't name each and every one, but if I could, I would offer you all an entire field of Thanks. If I didn't mention your name, it doesn't mean I didn't appreciate what you said, because I really did.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Even though we've not managed to meet up (yet), your advice when DS was young will always stay with me. And guess what? I did have a mothering instinct - it was just a bit buried..

Flowers to everyone really. life would be a lot more isolated and a lot less funny without this place. and Flowers to all the misogynistic twunts who get so threatened by women gathering together and talking to each other and supporting each other.
