Come and celebrate our new [thanks] emoticon by saying Thank You to a Mumsnetter who's made a difference. Spot prizes to be won and all!

Hello.

We have a new emoticon: Thanks

It's meant as a way for say thank you to someone for something nice/funny/amazing they've done or said. And it's in no small way inspired by the lovely Mumsnet Blanket Crew who've been agitating- very politely but very persistently Wink - for a thank you emoticon for some time now. (They originally wanted a star but we thought a bunch of flowers probably had a bit less of the 'prefecty'/'sticker chart' thing going on.)

We want to mark the arrival of our new emoticon by starting this special Thank You thread - and inviting you to say Thanks to another Mumsnetter who's made a difference to you.

Perhaps it's a Mumsnetter who has posted (or PM'd) something that helped you or supported you or inspired you ? or just made you laugh like a drain. Or maybe it's someone who's done something extraordinary for you, off-board or on.

Do come and tell us about it - and thank her/him for it - here. We're hoping for a thread full of Thanks for some truly lovely MNers.

Oh, and we've also got some rather covetable prizes - books, toys and some very cool (child and adult) bike helmets from Bell - to give away as spot prizes. Anyone who posts on this thread is in with a chance of winning - we'll pull names at random out of a hat in a couple of days' time.

Thanks, MNHQ

I would like to thank soupy for being completely rational about 7 yrs ago, and pulling me from the brink of depression Thanks

hester · 29/09/2011 19:49

Oh, and Thanks to Spero who is, for those who don't know her, a sparklingly impressive barrister with a rapier-like intelligence who does great work on the adoption threads. [whispers] I think I may have a bit of a crush on her.

insanityscratching · 29/09/2011 19:49

I'd like to say thank you Thanks to all on the special needs board who have supported me, given sound advice and understood my rants and frustrations during the long hard battle with the LA.

Thanks to Blondes, who has held my hand through so many childcare crises. And Thanks to NannyNick and Frakkin as well.

Redumbdancy · 29/09/2011 20:18

Thanks to Shoshe (where are you?) and LargeG&T for helping me through a hard patch a couple of years ago on the forces sweetheart board. Have name changed lots since so they won't recognise me but I'll always remember their kind words.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 29/09/2011 20:22

Thanks to all the women on PN Feb 11, I could never have survived the past year without your support. Extra big bunch of Thanks to janedoe25 for reasons already mentioned and to reastie for helping me feel sane, you know why!

StarlightMcKenzie · 29/09/2011 20:47

Thanks to all those on the SN Children board who taught me to never give up my high expectations for my child and above all to stop being a victim!

Silvertwigs · 29/09/2011 20:56

Thanks to you all for still being there when I only visited about a year ago! And thanks to the mumsnetters at that time, who brought my thoughts back to Jilly Cooper characters?? (and distracted me horribly, but it was great)

WhoresHairKnickers · 29/09/2011 23:16

No! PeachyWhoCannotType Solo is my name and it's upset me a great deal (irrational I know!) that someone else has nicked my name...I will be reclaiming my Solo name sometime soon even though I quite like the rude one I have right now Grin

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 29/09/2011 23:16

Thanks to everyone who recommended the 30 Day Shred, it is hard but it works!

WhoresHairKnickers · 29/09/2011 23:22

Whomovedmychocolate as she really pulled me into the Paul McKenna thread...and also all the current Paulers; you are very encouraging, so Thanks

PeachyWhoCannotType · 29/09/2011 23:33

Whores yes someone is sharing mine- though I am not upset, can't be arsed- won;t gie up mine, I paid for mine LOL, but it's common enough that it happens every few months: as long as people know via hover then so...

WhoresHairKnickers · 29/09/2011 23:39

missjulie · 29/09/2011 23:42

minicorrect · 30/09/2011 06:11

Like many others have said, my Thanks go to all the other mumsnetters who have made me laugh and cry since I got my first positive pee stick many years ago. The threads that make me laugh out loud while feeding DDs for the nth time in the night that kept me going. The threads that would show anyone that cared to delve deeper what an incredible group of women (and men) can be found here - from their strength against the odds, determination to improve the world where we can and stand up and be counted, and the amazing support given to those most in need. And finally, for ever answering my posts with helpful advice that have put my mind at rest or made me feel less of a freak. Thanks to each and every one of you!

Mouseface · 30/09/2011 10:28

Whores - yep, Peachy is the only peachy as far as I'm concerned but also the original Peachy HTH Grin

OvO · 30/09/2011 11:07

Thanks to everyone that has made me laugh so much I've thought I was about to die.

Thanks to everyone that has posted support on threads I've started under various names these past years when it's the anniversary of my DS2's death.

Thanks to the lovely women on the HE board that have taught me to be kind and patient with the people that wail, "but what about socialisation?" and "I know 564654 HE children and they are all weirdos." They are unfailingly polite in the face of muppetdom.

PeachyWhoCannotType · 30/09/2011 12:15

Solo if you know what I mean then you are doing better than me today, I have completely lost track of my own meaning I think

I am the one who has been here a decade

But other peachy is a real peachy, just not this peachy

IYSWIM

Actually I didn't even notice her until I bumped into her the other day and when I googled she has been here ages so fair enough.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 30/09/2011 14:51

I want to say Thanks to NorthernLurker, and many others, who supported me through finding out our unborn DS had horribly severe heart defects. There were so many on there who offered help to whom I am truly grateful but Northern sticks in my mind because she popped up to check on me many times in the months afterwards, and on my antenatal thread when we went on to have another healthy DS. not a stalker honest

Also Thanks to LondonGirl - not sure if she still posts - who shared her own difficult story with me in a very generous way, which really helped.

WhoresHairKnickers · 30/09/2011 16:13

Peachy I have no idea what you just wrote! but hey! you can't type, so it can't be me!!! Grin
Solo2 has been here 2 years, whereas Solo = moi has been here for 7 years and 8 months! it's my name I tell you!
