Come and celebrate our new [thanks] emoticon by saying Thank You to a Mumsnetter who's made a difference. Spot prizes to be won and all!

Hello.

We have a new emoticon: Thanks

It's meant as a way for say thank you to someone for something nice/funny/amazing they've done or said. And it's in no small way inspired by the lovely Mumsnet Blanket Crew who've been agitating- very politely but very persistently Wink - for a thank you emoticon for some time now. (They originally wanted a star but we thought a bunch of flowers probably had a bit less of the 'prefecty'/'sticker chart' thing going on.)

We want to mark the arrival of our new emoticon by starting this special Thank You thread - and inviting you to say Thanks to another Mumsnetter who's made a difference to you.

Perhaps it's a Mumsnetter who has posted (or PM'd) something that helped you or supported you or inspired you ? or just made you laugh like a drain. Or maybe it's someone who's done something extraordinary for you, off-board or on.

Do come and tell us about it - and thank her/him for it - here. We're hoping for a thread full of Thanks for some truly lovely MNers.

Oh, and we've also got some rather covetable prizes - books, toys and some very cool (child and adult) bike helmets from Bell - to give away as spot prizes. Anyone who posts on this thread is in with a chance of winning - we'll pull names at random out of a hat in a couple of days' time.

Thanks, MNHQ

Thanks Thanks to flowery for giving out some top notch advice, to me and the many posters I've seen calling for her over the years. So patient and informative considering it's what she does for a living and could presumably be earning a bit more money for the free advice she gives! :)

aStarInStrangeways · 26/09/2011 17:11

Thanks to the Aug08ers for being such fabulous friends, and massive Thanks to ChristinedePizan for ensuring that my DS is the best-dressed boy in town :)

craftynclothy · 26/09/2011 17:13

I'll second Gwendoline with Thanks to Flowery. Actually the flowers made me think of her!

SinicalSal · 26/09/2011 17:20

I'd like to give Thanks to Tiktok who helped me continue bf'ing dd1 til I was ready to give up. That was nearly 3 yrs ago, under a different name. Now I have dc2 - feeding is a dream - reminded me of all her patience and knowledge.

nickschick · 26/09/2011 17:20

ThanksThanksThanks To the wonderful Custy who not only gave and still gives me honest positive advice on how to deal with my troublesome teen (even if its not what I want to hear) - but takes the time here and on fb to check how things are .......I heart Custy Thanks.

trumpton · 26/09/2011 17:27

AW !! Thanks for the Thanks.

AND..........................

Well just that really. Grin

AmberLeaf · 26/09/2011 17:27

Thanks Thanks Thanks To all the posters on the SN:children board. I cant name one in particular and to name the ones that come to mind would probably leave out someone important!

My DS ASD assessment and DX is what brought me here initially and reading others stories makes me feel less of a pariah also that its not just me who lets housework slide Grin

Lots of great advice and comradery [sp?] that really helps.

and Thanks to everyone else for making me laugh and cry elsewhere on the boards!

SueNarmy · 26/09/2011 17:27

Tequilamockinbird · 26/09/2011 17:30

I'd like to thank AttilaTheMeerkat (although she may have changed names now!) for bringing me to the realisation that I have a narcisstic mother, after years of wondering what I was doing/saying wrong! This was on a thread a while ago now but I will always remember her for this. Her words of support and explanation really helped me and for that I will always be greatful.

Attila, thank you Thanks

IrmaLittleteapot · 26/09/2011 17:32

OMG I thought it was a London 2010 emotion! It is not dissimilar.

Any hoo, thanks to flowery and ribena over on employment issues who really, really helped me out when I had a proper cunting situation with work. I was under another name then but haven't forgotten. Their advice helped me come to terms with what was happening and have the courage to fight back, leave, get a feck off settlement and change career. Pretty awsome stuff.
