The OP highlighting!

I'm sorry, I know your link says it is easy to clear your browser cache, but I am stuck on instruction number one "Launch Mozilla Firefox and click the "Tools" button located on the main menu." I have no idea what launch means, or how to do it, and I can't find tools anywhere.

Restarting my pc did nothing either.

But fear not, I will live without coloured posts as long as you can reassure me that that is the only effect not being able to clear my browser cache. Smile

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/02/2011 17:02

Grrr, sorry last sentence went wrong but I hope you get the gist.

Tee2072 · 08/02/2011 17:05

I have to hide this thread now before I say something very rude to a person that does not know what 'launch Mozilla Firefox' means.

It's plain English.

BuzzLiteBeer · 08/02/2011 17:06

dumble, the browser is whatever you use to access the internet. When you switch on your computer, what do you press if you want to use the internet?

OP posts:
BuzzLiteBeer · 08/02/2011 17:07

and not everyone is au fait with the terminology, there's no need to be rude about it.

Thanks all. I got my 14 yo ds1 who is my technical whizz to show me where the word "tools" is written plain as day at the top of the window Blush

Normal service now resumed.

Someone just explain, why did we have to do this anyway?

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/02/2011 17:09

Thanks Tee, nice to have your support Hmm

Just because something is plain English, doesn't mean to say we all know what it means. We all have different levels of expertise in different things.

BuzzLiteBeer · 08/02/2011 17:09

its just if MNHQ make changes, you might have to restart your browser or clear the cache in order to see the new bits. If you haven't, you might be in an older version of the site, if you see what I mean?

Thanks Buzz, I did know enough to know what a browser is, and even which one I use Shock Wink. I just diddn't know what launch meant. I now know it means "start" but cannot understand why I was told to do something I must have already done, given that I couldn't have been reading those instructions linked to by Damian unless I had already "launched" Mozilla.

Anyway....one lives and learns.....and then forgets again probably Grin

BuzzLiteBeer · 08/02/2011 17:14

oh sorry, I wasn't sure what you were asking.Blush

OP posts:
Dumbledoresgirl · 08/02/2011 17:16

No, no problem. I didn't mean to make you Blush. I think the first line of my last post came over wrong. The thanks to you were genuine, not sarky, and I was trying to laugh at myself because I usually feel a fool when it comes to technical matters.

BuzzLiteBeer · 08/02/2011 17:18

a lot of people know perfectly well how to use a thing like this, but not know the proper terminology. My DH is like that, can get around online fine but if I said "launch browser" or "clear cache" to him I'd get this face Confused.

That's my permanent face!

But I have learnt a lot over the last few years, and like you dh can "do my thing" online quite happily, I just don't know the terminology because I learnt it all through doing not through instructions.

Ds1 is a big help too. Grin
