Why aren't they working?

If that works I'll look like a twat.

They weren't working in S&B earlier.

space before hyphens

unless it really is broken!

Catsmamma · 27/01/2011 21:58

ooooh it is fucked broken!

MrsNoggin · 27/01/2011 21:59

Ah-ha! Mine worked. Maybe it has to be in the middle of a sentence. Although that, of course, could be to do with the space in front...

Catsmamma · 27/01/2011 22:01

Mine worked earlier with the space at the front of the paragraph/line!

poo

Poo

Catsmamma · 27/01/2011 22:02

hmmm the first poo was no space and the second poo had a space

maybe it's capitals that it doesn't like

thumbdabwitch · 27/01/2011 22:10

but yes, if you have something after the struck out section like this, it seems ok - it's only if it's on its own

thumbdabwitch · 27/01/2011 22:12

does it work if it's the first thing you do? Let's see

thumbdabwitch · 27/01/2011 22:12

Nope. Has to be in the middle to work

Catsmamma · 27/01/2011 22:12

oooh so cannot end finish with a strikeout crossing out

Catsmamma · 27/01/2011 22:13

hah...i think we have it!

and i think even a fullstop will help fingers crossed.

RamonaFlowers · 27/01/2011 22:26

Oh.

I'm so late to this party, it ain't cool.

TrillianAstra · 27/01/2011 22:33

:o does a smiley count?

Appletrees · 27/01/2011 22:35

tis easy you just do this then it works

it's the american edit version of hyphens which is really annoying as I use that all the time and now have to change

Appletrees · 27/01/2011 22:36

tis easy you just do this then it works when you don't mean it to but never works when you need it to

it's as simple as that

BALD · 27/01/2011 22:36

inadvertently read Catsmama's post as 'poo in space'

ROAR

Appletrees · 27/01/2011 22:36

tis easy you just do this then it might work or might not

Appletrees · 27/01/2011 22:37

or it might

so the rule is -- sometimes you put a space and sometimes you don't and it might or might not work

BALD · 27/01/2011 22:40

just like my baking then

ho hum

Wink
thumbdabwitch · 27/01/2011 22:41

no - you don't put a space between the words and the strikeouts that worked to start with but not any more. you have to butt them right up to the words now to work.

mathanxiety · 27/01/2011 22:49

Appletrees that is exactly what happened to me!

space between hyphens and words

no space between hyphens and words

no space and misplaced apostrophe in hyphen's

no space and full stop.

mathanxiety · 27/01/2011 22:51

That got me nowhere at all. And some of the hyphens themselves have disappeared. I swear they were there, honest.

Do I still need to put the hyphens around every word, with no space?

mathanxiety · 27/01/2011 22:52

hyphen

pulling hair out

mathanxiety · 27/01/2011 22:53

Crazy. Really crazy...

mathanxiety · 27/01/2011 22:54

I surrounded each word with the double hyphens there. And look what happened... Shock
