Highlighting authors' posts

JustineMumsnet · 01/09/2010 15:30

For them that wants there's now an option to highlight the OP's posts in a thread. Just go to customise and choose "Yes" on the highlight posts by author option.

If you hate tints/hate OPs/hate change then just ignore this message and carry on as you were.

Cheers.

OP posts:

not taupe, nearer to speculum (slide slider to the right)

Shock
TrillianAstra · 01/09/2010 17:03

Speculum Grin Nice way of describing it.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/09/2010 17:07

Doesn't work for me: the selection boxes are 1-2mm high and I can't click on any of them :( I like the idea though :)

ForzaDelDestino · 01/09/2010 17:12

IAGTBF if you move your cursor to the end of the strip about highlight posts by author and click, a drop down box will appear although only a mm or so, click and if you peer closely you can see the N change to Y; have a go

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/09/2010 17:14

god that's fiddly :) thanks ...

SacharissaCripslock · 01/09/2010 17:21

I'd have preferred that only the name rather than whole post was highlighted. [being difficult]Grin

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/09/2010 18:31

Olive as in Farrow and Ball ridiculous colour names.

Definitely Battleship Grey chez BIWI

But I'm loving the new feature!

Snorbs · 01/09/2010 18:59

Thanks for adding the option but I agree that the colour is yuk. As it's a background for a big block of text then it does need to be a much paler tint IMO.

And the selection boxes are now knacked.

Tech · 01/09/2010 20:36

Hi, the squished up boxes should look better now. Hit F5 / Reload if not. Ta.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/09/2010 20:44

sorted. thanks Grin

Not on my iPad it isn't!

It's grey on IE & Firefox on my laptop, but still horrible brown on iPad & iPhone. I've refreshed the page, restarted iPad, cleared my cache and cookies, logged off and on again, turned the option off, turned it on again - still brown....

Any more ideas how I can turn it grey?

Tech · 01/09/2010 21:45

Hi RustyBear, We haven't changed the colour. It's still that greeny colour that we used to use for the navigation bars in the old days. It's RGB color values are D8D5B2 which is not a million miles from grey I suppose. I've always hated that nasty colour tbh.

So why does Lenin think it's changed? Is she having delusions?
It does look greyer on my laptop, but then the Discussions of the day tab looks bluer on there than it does on my iPad.

So if you don't like it either, can't you change it? I'm sure Justine won't notice
Grin

Btw, while you're here, can you tell me why when I log out from MN, it logs me out on all my computers, but when I log in, it doesn't log in on all of them? And If I open MN on a computer I haven't used for a while, I have to log in & then I find I have to log in again everywhere else....

TrillianAstra · 01/09/2010 21:58

It wa a greeny brown poo colour, now appears to be grey-er (on laptop rather than desktop but both on firefox).

TrillianAstra · 01/09/2010 21:59

By the way I liked "hate tints/hate OPs/hate change" Grin

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/09/2010 22:01

Still grey here...

Tech · 01/09/2010 22:05

Hi Rusty, We'll look into the logout/login thing. Sounds like a buuuug. I know it used to do something similar but I thought someone had fixed it a while ago. Sounds like not so.

HooNose · 02/09/2010 14:54

What is the point of this feature please?

Oh and another vote for it being battleship grey (now, that is, not what I would like in the future).

Poledra · 02/09/2010 15:05

Oh, very cool, Tech and possibly even froody.

Eyethangyew for this.

PS HooNose, the point of the feature is that you quickly can see if BOF the OP on a contentious AIBU thread has actually come back and responded to comments. Or something like that Grin

HooNose · 02/09/2010 17:11

Aha! I long since banned contentious threads from my Mumsnet. Was too stressing.

But I am keeping the feature to see if Justine backs down on the colour because it is interesting. Smile

cleanandclothed · 02/09/2010 21:41

Umm - it must be staring me in the face, but where is 'Customise'?

tethersend · 02/09/2010 21:44

Why can't you do this for your own posts? Would save you trawling through pages of a thread trying to find the point at which you left it...

Littlefish · 02/09/2010 21:53

Brilliant! Thank you. I suggested this ages ago.
