TESCO failed to deliver and left me with no milk for this morning AND THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS

Sorry for the caps but TESCo really are the pits.

They were meant to delivr last night but didn't and I couldn't get through last night.

Checked pC this morning and it showed the order as having been delivered.

Waited till just gone 9 to ring and they said they couldn't find the house so didn't deliver. (they've delivered here before)

Told them I had no milk or food and had an 18 month old in the house and their attitude was that it wasn't their problem.

PLUS they've taken the money out of my account- the girl made it sound like a favour that they were going to put it back in. I told her too right they were going to put it back in- it was my money and they had no right to have it- BUT it'll take a few days. They can't redeliver the order till monday. I told them that was my shopping money and how was I meant to get food now and they said there was nothing they could do.

My husband rang them and they were just as 'couldn't care' with him. Luckily I had other money but what if I didn't? Their attitude really stinks.

Plus I live in the center of a town so it's not rural or hard to find- i asked why the driver didn't get out to look for the house and they said that they didn't do that.

They really are the pits. They move into an area- undercut everyone and then when they've closed all the small businesess they hike their prices and deliver crap service- because tey can.

Right sorry abdout that- Rant over

PixieF

Are you living in Harlem ???

If not, why could the driver not poke his head out of the van for directions ??

Well, no wonder they couldn't bloody find it

jampots · 06/08/2005 22:52

a couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of cheapy mule sandals from Tesco to take on hols. On day 2 of my hols I was wearing them and they just broke but because there is only a strap at te front I couldnt even hobble along on them. I went into the big Tesco store in Maynooth (eire) to see if they could do anything but they couldnt so had to go and have them fixed at a shoe repair shop. This week I took them back to the store I bought them from with the receipt and asked for a refund and explained the story. They said "no - they're not broken". Of course not, i said, I had to have them temporarily fixed at my own expense but I wasnt confident they would last. In the end after further refusal I telephoned their customer service and explained to them. Eventually after much complaining and even having to tell them te number for the Maynooth store so they could ring and clarify my attendance there they reluctantly refunded me. Has really put me off them though,.

Would be furious if I were you Pixie though - definitely write to HO.

kid · 06/08/2005 22:53

Send them an email.
I've used them loads of times, when they are having trouble finding my house they usually phone me for directions. Did you have your number on your order?

They are being really unfair to you, how do they know if you have any more money to buy more shopping. Suppose you were at work on Monday and it wasn't convenient to wait in again for your shopping.

I would definately take it up with Head Office, remember to take anyones name that you speak to about it and make a note of all the calls you have already made.

Ocado.com

MrsGordonRamsay · 06/08/2005 22:58

No real point to that, just wanted to prove that advertising works

Melpomene · 06/08/2005 22:58

Poor you Pixiefish, you should persist til you get some proper compensation.

We had a similar experience (though not as bad) with a Tesco delivery last week. They were 4 and a half hours late with our delivery. DD1 kept asking for milk and we didn't have any. DD2 was down to her last nappy. Dh had to phone them 3 times - first time they said they'd phone back and didn't. Second time he got cut off.

Their excuse was that it was the delivery driver's first day

Pixiefish · 06/08/2005 23:03

no Ocado or Asda or Sainsburys in this area.

Nearest Asda is 45 minutes away. ALTHOUGH they are building one to open Autumn 2006 so in 18 months tere'll be more choice

Pixie...shop LOCAL
pUT YOUR MONEY BACK INTO THE POCKETS OF YOUR (oops) own people!

moondog · 06/08/2005 23:09

There are local places. Refer to 'Food' thread (Would anyone like to join me in this?) for details that I have posted of places in Wales.

Tesco is evil!!!!!

Pixiefish · 06/08/2005 23:09

I do where i can Moondog but you know this area- the choice is crap. no decent fruit and veg. i buy the meat locally but there's nowhere locally to buy pasta and beans etc etc. I use Boots (I knwo but they employ local people) for shampoo etc.

The thing is that after I used home delivery for ages but then found that because I was only working 2 days a week I could shop locally so I did. Plus Tesco were getting the order wrong all the time ( before they started rebuilding at B@@@@r- Moondog)

This week I've moved house (to next door) so really needed the extra help this week. I'm trying to clean and paint an sort out the new house while trying to fit this in around dd (18m). My mum helps when she can but i really didn't want to do the shopping this week. I'm up at 6 and still working at 10 at night so could have really done with the shopping being done.

btw- still not managed to do it- forgotten what I needed now as psychologially I feel that I've done the weekly shop

Your point about undercutting small local business is spot on. They're bs.I hate them. I really do feel sick when I travel past that site in Br. Where are you??? LLi? They have a market ther and in C**y don't they?

TinyGang · 06/08/2005 23:59

Ok - I take the point about Tesco undercutting local business but I agreed to have milk delivered by the local milkman to be 'supportive of local business' and he went on to forget the delivery completely twice in a month. It was also turning up at haphazard times of the day. He got quite miffed when I stopped the whole order.

Just to add my bit about Tesco delivery though (just to show I can moan on both sides of the fence) - I don't think much of them either, ever since they left loads of items out of my Christmas order one year and I had to tear up to Asda at 6am on Christmas Eve which was precisely what I had been trying to avoid!

If you want something done...
