not much good for tonight, but holland and barrat do some aloe vera gel which is amazing. i got realy burnt and you could feel it cooling you down. fab stuff.

Satine · 12/07/2005 20:00

Do you have an aloe vera plant? Or a friend who does? If so break the end of one of the fronds off, split it open and rub it all over the burnt bits. It's slimy and sticky but it's the best thing I've ever had for sunburn! I was in S America for a bit and they use Aloe Vera for every kind of skin problem!

RTKangaMummy · 12/07/2005 20:01

I did think of that and then thought I must be dreaming

Thank you so much

I knew MNetters would come to the rescue

lunachic · 12/07/2005 20:12

aloe vera gel is a must and lavender oil will work wonders and take the redness and heat away

lunachic · 12/07/2005 20:13

palmers cocoa butter as well for moisturising

fqueenzebra · 12/07/2005 20:15

olive oil, slather it on. Doubley useful in the bedroom, too

DS is not impresssed with me cos we are very very careful about him having lotion on

He thinks I should have done as well

The really silly thing is that we had it in the bag.

sorrel · 12/07/2005 22:37

ooh kanga hope you are feeling soothed and have feet up watching telly. I'd be thinking about getting some of that fantastically popular johnsons summer body lotion too to help it blend in a bit!
anyway hope you goe brown and look lovely in a day or too.

FIMAC1 · 12/07/2005 22:39

Anti-histimine helps, but 100% aloe vera gel does the job brilliantly - Used to sell something called Solorcaine over the counter - spray or lotion for sun burns, Boots only do it to order now - also fab

Tried the Yoghurt once - worked OK but not as good as Aloe

RTKangaMummy · 12/07/2005 22:44

DH is back

have the palmers cocoa butter

nivea creme

aloe vera body lotion

Couldn't get the gel

Am sitting on bed watching Big brother with laptop on my lap

boil water - pour water over tea bag, leave tea bag in and refridgerate until lovely and cold. apply with cotton wool. it's lovely - takes the heat straight out.
