aloe vera aloe vera aloe vera!!!! Or cold tea if not - something in tea takes the sting out of the sunburn.

Lonelymum · 13/07/2005 11:58

So which worked best RTKM?

RTKangaMummy · 13/07/2005 12:08

well I am still a pink and white kanga with white eyes

The sudocrem has made it itchy

After I washed off the tomato and yoghurt off my face, then put Aloe vera cream on my face but it stung so washed it off, so then put the nivea creme on

I am too embarressed to go out today because my face looks soooo silly

DS is not impressed with me in not putting cream on

RTKM did you use the aloe vera gel or was it a cream? because the gel is absolutely the best for sunburn. It's quite cheap too, I get it from holland and barrett

Lonelymum · 13/07/2005 12:12

Oh sorry if the sudocrem made you itchy. That was my idea.

I imagined it would be good for the pain but I can't say I have ever tried it myself.

RTKangaMummy · 13/07/2005 12:16

It was lotion it was all DH could get in tesco

He has gone into town now anfd is going to look for it

Thanks guys

I really do look like the face but red nose as well

If I hadn't got my sunglasses on it would be all over which I think wouldn't look so silly but at least I know they are good sungalsees

yes it itched after a while so perhaps I left it on too long, so perhaps it was my fault

I agree with eisdvold, cold tea is great, it's cooling and the tannic acid soothes the sunburn. Also a solution of bicarbonate of soda in tepid water does the same thing.
Maybe a cool bath?
Moisturise a lot as well, cream with aloe vera or vitamin e sounds good.
Poor thing. Be careful now.

Body shop or Holland and Barrett sell 100% aloe vera gel which won't be as much as an irratant - some Aloe Vera aftersuns have colours and other additives in which isn't great if you are very sunburnt

RTKangaMummy · 15/07/2005 09:48

Still a little pink

Think will get a aloe vera plant, have got the gel now.

Thanks for all your help, you are all DEFFO BRILL

I got terrible sunburn in egypt and the pharmacist told me paracetamol to remove the heat and calamine lotion to get rid of the irritation. You can get some that doesn't go white and I found it worked a treat.
