Wii Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City with Wii Speak

If you have this, is it good? I'm thinking of it for DD, almost 6. Is the Wii Speak good? Is it worth the extra ££? I'm thinking this would be a relly fun way to communicate with cousins in the states.

Thaks to you all!

I have done the Tom Nook jobs.

So DD I just keep talking to people. have noticed the ! so know to chat to them now, thanks. Will find Booker.

Wondered what recycling was for.

Will try and find lost and found.

Didn't know you could bash rocks. I still need to buy a spade - not been one in shop yet. On DS I only ever used the spade to dig. Will go and shake empty trees too.

Have a rod - caught one fish so far. Will try the sea next.

We have a net and have caught some butterflies so far.

Please tell me more about turnips!

So I need to find a friend to visit? So I can get their fruit and stuff to sell on for a profit?

Saturday night, 8pm - me and DD will try and be there

GreenBib · 11/03/2009 21:55

fishing is SUCH SUCH fun.
and oyu earn a lot

LadyMuck · 11/03/2009 22:47

If you buy an axe and a spade then you can plant more fruit trees. You native fruit sell for 100 each, but if you have a RL friend who comes to visit you then you can swap fruit and plant other trees. Foreign fruit sell for 500 each so my native peach trees have been dug up and replanted with cherries. Nice steady source of income.

Turnips are good, though we go to church on Sundays and it is difficult to ensure that all family members have a chance to buy.

I now have a 3 storey house (well including the basement) and we have a new bridge and fountain in our town - we're currently saving up for a lighthouse. The bugs and fish vary from month to month, and it isn't always the case that sea fish are more expensive than river fish.

GreenBib · 12/03/2009 07:16

gasp
lord you are an expert!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 12/03/2009 07:19

Buy 2 spades. Bury one and leave it for 24 hours (full hours) dig it up and hey presto! Golden spade! You can use this spade to plant money trees. Plant a bag of money and you have a chance of that tress growing 3 bags of money. This is a risk, the more money you plant, the higher the chance of tree money.

TURNIPS:

Every Sunday from 6am - 12pm a character called Joan comes to your town selling turnips. They call it the "stalk market". You can buy them from her at a set price and then sell them to Tom Nook throughout the week. He gives a different price every day ( and the a different price morning and afternoon). The prices change from week to week, sometimes high, sometimes low. You have to sell them by Saturday or they spoil and are no good. Joan usually sells for around 100 bells per turnip and Nook buys from about 40 - 650 bells a turnip.

If you have friend that you go to see in other towns, you can also sell there. There are AC communities online where people will post high turnip prices and let you come in and sell.

LOL Athene, thing is, before the game made it onto the DS it was never a childrens game! Prepare to lose time, and it's never ending, the seasons are all different, there are events throughout the year and if you want to do things like collect all the fish, some are only available in certain months.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 12/03/2009 07:22

Lady Muck, if you have more than one resident in your town are all town donations pooled?

LadyMuck · 12/03/2009 09:23

Yes, all donations from the town are pooled. Ds2 isn't that interested in money, so ds1 and I join resources. As in real life it seems to be my job to earn the cash in order to fund ds2's relatively modest "lifestyle". He is into decor and is the HRA model room at present. Quite funny watching the boys working out what they have to do to pay off their mortgages.

We did buy the game guide for this which lists all of the available items for sale and how the sets go together (and where to fid missing furniture etc).

SoupDragon · 12/03/2009 09:31

I got the Wild World (?) version on my DS just before Christmas and I've nearly paid of my final mortgage [preen] [saddo]

Don't bother with coconuts as they only grow 2 per tree so it's more work harvesting them.

If you chop a tree down and then plant fruit in its place it is guaranteed to grow.

Red turnips are worth while - buy a seed for 1000, plant it and water it every day and then sell it 6 days later to Tom Nook for 16000.

SoupDragon · 12/03/2009 09:33

I think I've completed all but 3 of the fossil collections in my museum [needs a life]

If you're really nice to residents, they give you a picture of themselves.

SoupDragon · 12/03/2009 09:33

I won the fishing tournament last month [preen]

PfftTheMagicDragon · 12/03/2009 10:31

I didn't know the picture thing, SD. Do you have to talk to them every day?

I love animal crossing. I particularly like the bad fishy puns!

AtheneNoctua · 12/03/2009 13:18

I'm probably taking this way too seriously -- an dI don't even have a Wii yet!. But does anyone have this: Animal Crossing guide

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 12/03/2009 13:24

Or check this out. forums.primagames.com/showthread.php?p=59041#post59041

I'm pathetic, aren't I?

OP posts:
GreenBib · 12/03/2009 14:38

ds said that coconuts take too long to grow
oh he also said check out the animal crossing calendar for fishing tourneys etc

PfftTheMagicDragon · 12/03/2009 15:22

Coconuts take as long as other fruit, 3 days, though it is true that they only grow 2 to a tree. They also only grow by the beach.

SoupDragon · 13/03/2009 15:38

Pfft, you don't need to talk to them every day, you have to be nice. I think I've got them for sending loads of letters/gifts and giving medicine when they're ill.

We love the fishing puns too. If any of us are playing, we'll say "I caught a horse mackerel!" and the others will chorus "Nay! Yay!" Red Snappers get a very camp "ooohh, Snap". It's so sad

AtheneNoctua · 18/03/2009 11:12

So, when you guys play Animal Crossing, do you have your own character or do you go on and impersonate your DCs (which could be loads of fun).

BeauticianNotMagician · 21/03/2009 14:43

Hi all in my game at the moment there is a balloon floating about with a present attached do i ignore it or am i supposed to get it and if i am how do i achieve that.

Thanks.

AtheneNoctua · 21/03/2009 15:16

Afraid my DD's Wii is still in a box so I know nothing. But, surely be reviewing this thread over the next couple of weeks.

Any chance you can pop the balloon?

OP posts:
BeauticianNotMagician · 21/03/2009 18:42

I have tried that.Thank you anyway.

I only got our wii a week ago and my ds's havent had a look in im seriously addicted..

In my defence i have never owned a games console before not even as a child.

SenorToucan · 21/03/2009 18:43

I share mine with ds3.
he kept selling my fishing rod

BeauticianNotMagician · 21/03/2009 18:53

Lol at selling your fishing rod.

Im one of those highly annoying impatient people so have to say i find the game a little too slow for my liking i just want to get on with it already.

Also a few of the characters have requested items but i havent come across any of the items they want as yet.Does it usually take a while as it always comes up when i speak to those characters.

LadyMuck · 21/03/2009 18:53

You need to buy a slingshot from Tom nook's shop. Then stand under the balloon (you can see the shadow) and press A. When you have knocked down 8 balloons then you get a golden slingshot which fire 3 shots at once.

SoupDragon · 21/03/2009 18:54

You need to shoot the floating balloon with a slingshot. I've not hit one yet.

LadyMuck · 21/03/2009 18:58

Athena, we each have our own characters.

When you first play it you arrive at your town either by taxi or bus (can't remember which offhand). Don't dash into the game straightaway but have a look around and see if you like the look of your place. Once you set yourself up it is too much faff to start again, so you could try 2 or 3 different towns at the start to see which you prefer. I think that the ideal location of your house is to be close to Tom Nook's shop and the river or sea.
