NOt sure if this is the right thread to ask it but you ladies strike me as the experts....

I need a tandem buggy (not side by side) that would accomodate ds 2 (will be 19 months) and a newborn. I need both to be able to sleep in it. I like the icandy and the phil and teds but P & T has very mixed reviews about durabiloty and quality.

Can anyone help?

sweetkitty · 09/03/2009 18:01

Muppetgirl - IMHO P&T all the way, I had a side by side and a tandem but P&T wins hands down.

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2009 18:03

P&T is fab, but unlikely both can sleep comfortably in it? not sure any tandem would? i don't like the look of the icandy looks like a tank lol! i've been looking at nipper 360's (single) and the doubles seem to get good reviews. if you want both to lie flat to sleep at times i'd recommend a side by side with air tyres.

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 18:08

P and T would be my choice too. Have used that and the Powertwin and vastly preferred the P and T set-up. Sleeping in the front seat of the Powertwin would be uncomfortable I think (I know you didn't ask about it!).

When you are in toddler/ toddler mode it can be a little tricky if you have your eldest in the back seat and DC2 wants to sleep with the zips down for the extra recline, as the seat will lie very close to DC1's face. (Using 1 and 2 for convenience sorry!). You just have to plan ahead a bit, that's all. Perhaps keep DC2 in the back seat, but weight the front/ top seat with your change bag if DC1 wants to get out? Clear as mud?

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2009 18:09

but not BOTH could sleep comfortably in the p&t tho?

pebbles79 · 09/03/2009 18:10

Jane Twin Two with a Matrix car seat on the front and then you can completely recline the back seat for the toddler to be able to sleep.

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 18:15

Both can sleep comfy at the same time IME. 1st three six months less comfy for DC1 but mine was fine. I appreciate that other toddlers may have higher standards though . I will admit to using the toddler / toddler mode very very early.

The Twin Two option sounds very very comfy but tank like!

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 18:17

Having borrowed a friend's Nipper Double (not even 360 one) that would certainly be my choice for 2 DCs, but it is a side by side.

pebbles79 · 09/03/2009 18:21

Was almost tempted by a Maclaren today as my local TK Maxx had two in. I don't really know much about them though, had a Triumph years ago for DS1 and hated the small wheels.

Anyway, couldn't see anything on the box to see what kind of Maclarens they were but had a quick look inside them and one was £49.99 and I'm sure I saw the word Quest somewhere, it was dark grey (I think) and there was turquoise on it too. The other one was like a salmon pink colour and was £79.99 and was in a slightly bigger box than the other one. Any ideas what they are? I know there's a few on here that know their Maclarens. Pink one might have been pink and black, can't remember.

muppetgirl · 09/03/2009 18:26

Thanks all!
The only reason I say tandem and not side by side is that I do worry about ds 2 only using it for a short time and then I'm stuck with a double for the next three years (dh will kill me if I say I'd like another pushchair after 2 years!!! We have gone through 2 quinny's a quinny zap, maclaren and 2 other ones I can't remember the makes both from ebay)

Ds 2 is currently 16 months and doesn't walk so I thought the icandy would be good as he can use it and when ds 3 is born will convert to a tandem and then when ds 2 doesn't need it will convert back to a single.

I think I want too much

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 18:32

You do feel like less of a muppet when DC1 is walking with a P&T .

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2009 18:50

you will have your double in daily use for at least 18m trust me. my last two ds' have been late walkers 16m so my middle ds had been only walking 2m when new baby arrived. just given up double p&t at 3.2yrs. esp on days when its pouring down, freezing cold or ds' are unwell. p&t excellent resale value as well. but i would be concerned if your older son wants to sleep in it regularly how comfy he'd be?

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 18:55

I wanted to say that too but don't want to be yelled at for letting DD1 use a buggy at 3.5 . I am still slinging DD2 at 30lbs but am about to sort a buggyboard out. Double pram not really practical for us most days.

muppetgirl · 09/03/2009 18:56

tbh he doesn't sleep much in the one we have but I will be walking more when ds 3 arrives as will be buying food more on a daily basis.
I suppose I'm basing ds 2's walking on what ds 1 did which was not early but on time but was very solid very quickly and he used to walk miles without a pushchair. (we lived in a large village where everything was within walking distance so we never used the car)

muppetgirl · 09/03/2009 18:57

I will use a sling for ds 3 in the beginning (once over the c-section) as I did with ds 2 and it was fab on days out, in London etc.

Disenchanted3 · 09/03/2009 20:50

Grrrr.

Need to sell these buggies, my mum paid for holiday for me as offer was ending today! Have to get money to her and also seen the stroller and footmuff i want on ebay and want to get them before someone else does!!

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2009 20:58

Its XT, 2008, target wheels, very cheap too!

And theres a red mac footmuff i want

sweetkitty · 09/03/2009 21:03

I so want my luna now, got to wait until I sell the P&T which should hopefully be Friday sometimes though I think I have done the wrong thing and will want it back.

DP has just asked which pram I am getting and telling me he is not pushing it ever and is not getting left outside shops with it the man has 3 daughters he better get used to pink!

Have never bought a pram off ebay by the time P&P is added it would be about £100 at least, £140 straight from M&P new??????

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 21:06

Disenchanted, the covers on the MB look sort of baggy? Is that just how they are? Do you think the seat is comfy?

Disenchanted3 · 09/03/2009 21:07

Yes they are hammock seats so tighten when they are sat in if that makes sense?

its really comfy,

my 3 month old, 2 yr old and 4 yr old have all had a go and been very happy

BeehiveBaby · 09/03/2009 21:13

Thanks.

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2009 22:13

dis im just watching an apples on ebay otherwise will too get from kiddicare. i love the damask comfort pack tho too! lovely. i miss my grey xt

FlyMeToDunoon · 09/03/2009 22:17

Nicola where are you getting your Nipper from then? Colour?

nicolamumof3 · 09/03/2009 22:22

Camel, from babybirds i think as they take paypal. know anyone who wants a lovely xlr tho? must sell that first.

i shouldn't rush to buy pram anyway as terry goes away first thing on Thursday with boys to his parents. so wouldn't get to use til next week anyway. so just need to be patient, which as you know i am NOT!
