Baby Wipes Warmer
gingerbear · 04/04/2005 23:59
you will never guess what I found Sansouci!!!
Gwenick · 05/04/2005 00:01
PMSL
"While a cold wipe closes pores, trapping harmful bacteria inside, a warm wipe actually opens pores, thereby allowing for a more hygienic, effective nappy change. (The reasoning is the same as to why we wash our faces in warm water - warm water opens our pores, allowing the dirt and bacteria within our pores to be thoroughly cleaned and washed from the skin?s surface)."
Well yes I do have hot showers - but if I'm in a real rush in the morning it's generally a good splash of cold water on my face to get me going
colditzmum · 05/04/2005 00:02
O MY GOD I have never seen anything so ridiculously precious in my entire life!!!!!!!
colditzmum · 05/04/2005 00:03
It's strange, but I use cold wipes, and am yet to notice pustules break out on my sons bottom.....
hunkermunker · 05/04/2005 00:03
Oh, wow! I want one!
OK, was going to post that as it was, but can't quite bring myself to... The things people will waste their money on... Weddings and babies - people go a little bit mental and open their wallets all too easily. And they could be sending that money to...me!!!
gingerbear · 05/04/2005 00:05
look what they make to put your wipes warmer in.
marthamoo · 05/04/2005 00:05
I saw these when they first came out and couldn't believe anyone would buy one. I know we love our babies, I know we tend to their every need, I know wipes are a bit cold on wee botties, especially after that 3 am feed but FFS, that's life, baby, deal with it
Gwenick · 05/04/2005 00:07
so...........................
Who's going to be first to say....................
That the solution to cold wipes is not to use those horrible chemicals on baby's skin and instead use warm water and cotton wool
gingerbear · 05/04/2005 00:12
You Gwenick?
I used cotton wool/warm water then ikea flannels and my own warm olive oil/camomille tea mixture when DD was tiny.
Baby wipes only used now for cleaning the leather sofa and getting wax crayon off the coffee table - warmed on the radiator first of course
gingerbear · 05/04/2005 00:14
Lou, that's not the new design of Sangenic nappy wrapper is it?
Chandra · 05/04/2005 02:15
OH! and I thought they were only used to prevent baby completely woken up during a night change! How could I be so ignorant???
Off to wash DS's mouth with soap because he said the word....poo.
Nathanmum · 05/04/2005 02:36
Well, my ds likes to look at his poo If I wrap up the nappy too quickly he gets very upset
Chandra · 05/04/2005 02:37
Mine insists inwaving bye bye to his while flushing the toilet...
hub2dee · 05/04/2005 07:13
I've always like the idea meself.
It's like a slightly warm toilet seat on a cold Winter's day...
Can you believe that there are 250 reviews of this thing on Amazon - MANY of them rave...
here
There are a large collection of 1 stars however ... users say the lid is crap and water condenses on the top and wipes go brown etc. In the reviews someone mentioned this model from Target which heats from the top so might be more efficient:
Here .
sahara · 05/04/2005 07:22
Baby Wipe Warmers
WTF?
Do people actually exist that will waste money on an uneccessary thing like that?
What comes next, The Tushy Heater (Heated Nappies)?
hub2dee · 05/04/2005 07:42
You all jest, and I'll be the first to point out that it's unnecessarry... but some people put underwear / clothes on a radiator before going to bed in Winter so they are shnuggly in the AM, and many people have a heated towel rail type thing in the bathroom...
Me: I'm going to put my wipes on the rad and keep them toasty.
tarantula · 05/04/2005 08:32
I saw these when I was pg and nearly PMSL. everyone here in the office had a really good laugh too. Flannel and warm mater did dd nicely
GeorginaA · 05/04/2005 08:41
Still PMSL at marthamoo's "but FFS, that's life, baby, deal with it"
hub2dee · 05/04/2005 09:21
All good mothers need this - a HEATED DIAPER BAG ! (should really have posted that to the nappy bag thread, but feel it will be better appreciated here).
expatinscotland · 05/04/2005 09:24
Gingerbear
Care to share your warm olive oil, camomile tea mixture recipe w/us mums? I'd like to give it a go.
gingerbear · 05/04/2005 09:43
IIRC, I brewed a pot of chamomile tea then added a few drops of olive oil and a few drops of baby bath to it. Shake it up in an old jam jar when cooled then put it in a chinese takeaway container. Dunk the flannels in as required. Washed flannels with cloth nappies.
