Its bloody brilliant!! Have just cleaned my stainless steel hob and splashback with it-nothing else but water - started off sceptical-it was filthy from a fry up last night-got rid of every last mark,a quick buff and I have never seen it shine so bright!

OP posts:
Pinotmum · 01/04/2005 16:29

Marthamoo I'll make a note of that in case i ever meet someone with that type (adds to secret list)

moondog · 01/04/2005 16:30

Georgina, they do work.
Bloody brilliant.
Not a fabric conditioner woman myself. Trying to cut down on chemicals and all that...

GeorginaA · 01/04/2005 16:31

So how are they with towels then? Are the towels fairly soft when they come out?

Sorry to sound such a complete cynic, but I am genuinely interested, honest

DelGirl · 01/04/2005 16:32

I bought one of these last week as I've got a stainless stell oven and just bought a a stainless steel dishwasher. Almost took it back cos I can't seem to buff my cooker up that well Suppose I must be doing something wrong...any ideas?

JoolsToo · 01/04/2005 16:33

the flash on is called Mark and Stain Eraser its excellent - whats the paste one called - did I miss it?

moondog · 01/04/2005 16:33

Well my towels are good! I like them quite hard tbh, think fabric conditioner makes them slimey and less absorbent (as it does with nappies)
Gaaaah!!! Gotta go. Someone at the door.
Just when it was getting really exciting too!!

marthamoo · 01/04/2005 16:35

Yes I want to know that too, GeorginaA. Tell us the truth!

I am sceptical because of the suspension of disbelief tactic that washing powder manufacturers have been using in their advertising for years. You know, all that - look a white T-shirt, let's put red wine, Ribena, chocolate, engine oil, blood, ketchup etc. on it and then we wash it at 40 degrees in new Persilerieldazbold and look - it looks brand new! (Duh, that's 'cos it isn't the same T-shirt but they get away with it anyway)

You just accept that if you get certain things on a white T-shirt it is never going to look the same again, don't you? Yet somehow they get away with blatantly lying in their ad's.

Sorry...went off one one there...where we we?

Pinotmum · 01/04/2005 16:37

A little bit of baby oil on stainless steel hobs brings up a shine, but just a little bit mind . Saw that one on Wife Swap I think.

marthamoo · 01/04/2005 16:37

Astonish paste

Good for UPVC windows. If you had them. Which I don't. Ahem.

Pinotmum · 01/04/2005 16:38

You never know when that could come in handy.

marthamoo · 01/04/2005 16:39

Indeed, Pinotmum

JanH · 01/04/2005 16:41

It doesn't mention windows in the blurb, mrs moo (ahem)

marthamoo · 01/04/2005 16:43

Damn it, Jan - you're supposed to try and help me maintain my in with the in-crowd MN persona - not show me up as a fraud with UPVC windows.

JoolsToo · 01/04/2005 16:46

oh I've had Astonish before from Woolies - it is good.

JanH · 01/04/2005 16:47

Ah well, I own both plastic windows (and I DON'T CARE EVEN THOUGH MY HOUSE IS VICTORIAN!!!!) and a tub of Astonish so it could have been me that told you

JoolsToo · 01/04/2005 16:49

I've got plastic windows in and 18th century house but we didn't put them in! let's face it - the upkeep is easier - I hate painting woodwork!

GeorginaA · 01/04/2005 16:51

I love my UPVC windows - but then the house was built in the late 1990's so they suit

JanH · 01/04/2005 16:51

We are the guilty party here but I still don't care - the old sash windows were long gone, replaced with cheap whitewood top-openers which were rotting. (And I hate painting woodwork too, JT! )

Twiglett · 01/04/2005 16:52

actually in the washing ads it has to be the same t-shirt (ad standards and all)

the trick is ... shhhhh ... they wash it immediately after the stain .. most things come out if they haven't been left to set

marthamoo · 01/04/2005 16:52

OK, I'm Coming Out.

I live in a 160 year old Weaver's Cottage with UPVC windows.

And I'm glad because we had hardwood double glazed sash windows in our last house and had to sand and stain them once a year. And this house is three storeys, dh hates heights, and I'm buggered if I'd be sanding and staining 3 storeys up.

Oooh! I feel really cleansed now that's out in the open.

I'll be confessing to reading the Daily Mail and having a Burberry fetish next.

Twiglett · 01/04/2005 16:53

Victorian House -- white UPvC double glazed windows (inherited)

marthamoo · 01/04/2005 16:54

Twiglett, you're secretly Danny Baker aren't you?

JanH · 01/04/2005 16:56

moo, did you inherit them? If so you are exempt from scorn - it's like fur coats. (If not, do join me in the naughty corner!)

Twiglett · 01/04/2005 16:57

Shhhhhh moo

Twiglett · 01/04/2005 16:58

I'm actually wassisname off eastenders
