Your advice needed please. I?m going to a wedding in May and need to update the only decent outfit I have in my wardrobe that fits me post baby. It's a winter white jacket, softly tailored and black linen type fabric trousers. I have black shoes and black/white bag but I need a new top. The one I have is too wintery. What do you advise? It has to go over a nursing bra (you all know how glamorous they are ) so nothing strapless, halter neck or too flimsy please.

How about ditching the coat and going with a nice poncho style top? It should be alot warmer come May and the poncho will be really handy to BF with.

Oh thanks for rescuing me NBG. Where do i usually shop....well that's the problem really - I'm not much of a shopper.H&M for tops that are a bit different & good prices.Next for trousers that seem to fit my podgy shape. Dont usually look in Top Shop - isn't it for teenagers? ( I' not) Though I realise i need to expand my horizons....

You could go to Wallis or Principles and anything would go with black trousers. I am BFing ATM and bought 2 BF tops which I dont really use. There are a lot of floaty tops at the moment which are quite loose and would look nice with trousers. I would be in favour of not wearing the jacket too. TopShop is great actually as it isnt really geared to teenagers and is affordable too.

A poncho style top could look nice if it isnt too bulky.

You'll be suprised with Topshop. They even do maternity clothes now!

I would go for a simple strechy strappy top and get a pretty poncho.

I have a vest style top which looks like it wraps over at the bust. It's fitted but quite loose IYKWIM so it would be really easy to BF with.

Topshop is the best shop ever, but I am slightly obsessed in an unhealthy way. Its not just for teens really, generally you find older teens shop there, but when I go in it usually people in their 20s (I m 20 myself). In terms of posh tops, they are ok...its hit and miss, but they get new stock in all the time.

River Island does nice posh tops, as does Next. I also like Oasis, its more expensive but very nice, but the cut on their clothes can be skimpy. I am a 14 in most shops, but a 16 in Oasis.

Debenhams desginers do nice tops as well.

Personally I would leave the white jacket, and find a cute top, with a sexy cardi to go over the top, bit more springy and relaxed. But I am not a jacket girl. Something like this and this

Going out page 3. There are a couple of poncho styles there in black and pink. There is also a multicoloured one. I thought if you went with the black you could get a cream or white fabric corsage to pin at the top to lighten up the outfit. There is another one in tailoring, corals and greys. First page there is a light pink strappy top.

Smurfgirls idea was good. There are loads of bolero style cardis about ATM which would look good with nice top.

Well it will be quite warm in May and the last thing you want is to be carrying a coat around with you plus you won't get to show your new top off!

Marks and spencers do some gorgeous hair corsages. An alternative to a hat. Very cute!

Honestly, black and white for me is a bit formal. I prefer black with a softer colour. Monocrome is not my thing, but in saying this nautical style is in. Hmm.

Next has some nice dressy tops. I think they have a fair bit of pink. Lots of greens as well if I remember correctly.

I am now pretty adept at Bf in most tops ( obviously not dresses) so the main constraint of the Bf are that i need to wear a top with straps and also that my boobs are hugh ( 32GG) compared to the rest of me

Yeah have to agree with SG. Black and white is a bit formal. Get a bit of colour in.

My personal opinion is to stick with your trousers, get a coloured top (the pink poncho style top or multicoloured one in next for example) and some wedges. Very in ATM!

No no no, it's all about what you do with them. BTW Mine have shrunk considerably since having dd!

Wear a strappy camisole top with a higher neckline, and a crossover top in a co-ordinating olour over it. Crossover tops are v. good for reducing large boobs, but usually come low down on the cleavage - and you really don't want to be showing off the nursing bra- hence the camisole underneath.

Wedges are uber, lots of cute coloured sandles in the shops at the moment which is pretty fab, I like pink sandles best.

Pale green is also the colour for weddings. Oooh.

I just had a peek at the Next website, lots of nice neutral shoes, might be better buying them, they will last longer kwim? Or if you already have nice black shoes, splash out on a new bag to match the top.

KM, there is a gorgeous kimono style top in their Vintage collection, It's £120 but it would go with your trousers. They only have it in certain stores though.

I second Oasis. Don't forget other shops like Etam, Warehouse, and good ol' NEXT. A wrap top is also very ATM and easy to get in and out of - plus the v-neck is flattering to a larger bust. Wedges are the easiest of heels to walk in and very forgiving.

I spent £50 in Oasis last week, on the smallest skirt ever and a teeny top, very expensive but beautiful!
