What's happened to Marie Claire? I haven't touched it in 2 months. The only interesting one for a reasonably intelligent read is (shudder at name!) Good Housekeeping. Or am I getting old? Vanity Fair can be good, too.

yes, I think it is a ladyeees magazine, with 'tasteful' pictures of lovely young men.

wobblyknicks · 23/02/2005 10:01

LOL kr!!! bundle, it has articles and pictures about 'boudoir' things!!

bundle · 23/02/2005 10:01

gosh. i live such a sheltered life.

wobblyknicks · 23/02/2005 10:05

bundle, read of few of them cover to cover and you won't be so sheltered!!!

bundle · 23/02/2005 10:11

yes, but wk, what i want from a mag is a bit of a gossip, a few nice fashiony things (lovely linen skirt in Grazia, but it's MiuMiu, so over £200) and some thought-provoking articles. perhaps not the kind of thoughts that Scarlet seems to offer [sink] - not that i'm a prude, it's just not what i buy magazines for. oh god i sound so middle aged!

expatinscotland · 23/02/2005 10:18

I only read Oprah's mag now. Got sick to the back teeth of articles about 'ordinary women' with £800,000 homes in the country; £200 trousers; and Botox faces. Oprah for the most part keeps it pretty real, great book reviews, and thought-provoking articles.

bundle · 23/02/2005 10:22

that [sink] of course was really a wink...

sansouci · 23/02/2005 10:22

I know what you mean, bundle. I resent being treated as if my interests are limited to sex, how I look and how I should look, sex, how I act and how I should act, sex, etc. Sex is great, but I don't want to be reminded all the time of how little I want/need sex now that I have 2 demanding children to take care of. Poor dh, BTW. We desperately need a DW!!

Lol, don't think ther's much fashion advice in there (well not the sort you want!) The only mag I can get my head round for fashion for those of us not on 70k salaries is Company. but the articles are pretty same-y.

CountessDracula · 23/02/2005 10:24

You could try a book? Honestly I think women's magazines are the BIGGEST waste of money.

oliveoil · 23/02/2005 10:30

Eve. Or Vogue if I want to see what I should be wearing instead of jeans.

bundle · 23/02/2005 10:33

I do read a lot CD, i'm in 2 book clubs and read other stuff too, plus a lot for work things. but there is something about magazines...
i never got twinkle etc as a child (only beano/dandy for little sister) and totally missed out the teen mags (went straight to footy mags, Shoot/Scoop, then onto NME) so feel like i'm making up for that loss . i know they're crap, i just can't help it....

oliveoil · 23/02/2005 10:35

Reading books? Is that when you are left alone for more than 5 minutes, casually flicking the pages whilst eating chocs without someone hanging off your leg and whinging for something?

sansouci · 23/02/2005 10:35

LOVE books... but I need something to read when on the loo or when dd's watching Nick Jr, iykwim.

OP posts:
sansouci · 23/02/2005 10:36

yeah, that's right oliveoil. How can you possibly read a book with whingeing or rugby going on?

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 23/02/2005 10:37

newspapers?

oliveoil · 23/02/2005 10:38

Read newspapers in the evening when the sprogs are in bed. I have 2 copies of Eve unread in a pile but I will still buy a new one when it comes out. Why?

sansouci · 23/02/2005 10:39

Newspapers are good too, but they don't quite satisfy the desire for a nice woman's glossy, if there is such a thing anymore.

lou33 · 23/02/2005 10:43

i just subscribed to scarlet, it's worth it for the pressies alone!

will sit by the letterbox until they arrive now

bundle · 23/02/2005 10:51

read the telegraph online most days and g2 of the guardian when i get a moment. read book on tube and also just before go to sleep. to be honest i really need something trashy as my work requires a lot of factual "hard" reading (ie using brain)

CountessDracula · 23/02/2005 10:53

Hmmm

I still think wimmins mags are a load of crap.

Keane · 23/02/2005 10:54

they are tripe

bundle · 23/02/2005 10:54

CD that is the point

like the creme egg i ate yesterday, they are of no nutritional value, but i NEEDED one

wobblyknicks · 23/02/2005 14:05

Lol lou, so you did in the end!! But what are you going to do with ANOTHER sex toy??? You'll run out of space soon

lou33 · 23/02/2005 14:10

Are you mad?! There is always room for one more!
