Try putting a toddler in the front of the Jane and steering it, like driving a bus

I've used a powertwin for the past 2 years and have loved it. Giving it up now because we don't need a double anymore. I didn't like the set up of the Phil and Teds. Powertwin easy to push and after a while it didn't matter who was in front/behind in terms of weight. My gap was 20 months.

TB - How do you stop the one on the lower bit from touching the wheels?
hana - are there any downsides? how big is it folded up? can you take it apart for storage?

powertwin is massive to go in the boot and the seats are quite small for an older toddler.

also, i'll be using it initially for two 1 year olds. then in a year will have a newborn and a 2 yo.

hi cg!

have resigned myself to the fact that it won't fit in the yaris boot.
i don't drive however. on family outings we can use sling and single buggy or buggy board when ds is older.just wanted to know for storage reasons.

it's pretty chunky folded up - we have always had it fully up in the house in a corner of dining room. You can take it apart for storage - not sure why you'd want to though. Have used it pretty much every day since dd3 was a few weeks old. Downsides might be that it is pretty bug, but I loved that it fit through doorways easily (is fairly slim for a double) and it's quite robust. Got lots of punctures initially until we put slime in the wheels. And it's expensive! but we've def had our moneys worth

dd2 is 3y9m and I've not really used it much this summer (since school finished) and dd3 is almost 2. It's only just getting 'heavy' to push now. But they aren't big girls - dd2 is quite small and little. dd3 is average size for almost 2. (don't know their weights, sorry)

am buying on second hand and tbh the p and t ones are so much more expensive, i don't know if i can justify buying it unless it is much better than the jane.

do you think a p and t would fit in a yaris?!

I love my powertwin-use most days for 2 mile round trip to school and back-from birth and 2 year old, now still great a year later, though not sure it would be if you had a large 3 year old. No space for shopping or anything when 2 are in p&t whereas powertwin has reasonable basket. I find it very easy to push and steer-can do it one handed when needs be holding older child's hand etc. Good to use as travel system too, either for car or just transferring baby more easily when asleep. That said, my friends been happy enough with her p&t e3 and obviously that's got a good lifespan when you only need single. I'd always try to get pushchair from ebay, whichever you decide.

fg, i am currently watching several on ebay.
janes coming up lots cheaper and people seem genuinely happy with them.

i still don't understand what's to stop the lower baby touching the wheels in a p&t though.

I have a powertwin and I love it! (Cannot commet on P&T as I have not actualy used one, but did not like the rear seat position).

Jane is really very light to push and steer, even when fully loaded with kids and shopping. You have to lock the swivel wheel when going over really stony ground(especially uphill) but I do use mine on footpaths in the Lakes. Locking wheel is a half turn of a little button on the front. Dead simple.

I also bought the carseat to go with it for the baby, but very rarely use it as the rear seat of the pushchair drops to almost horizontal, which I prefer for my LO.

P&T has mudguards on the wheels
I think they weren't included as standard on some of the older models

P&T wins hands down, style-wise and it's so practical too. I don't like the powertwin's looks.

I've got a P+T, for my 2.5 yr old and 15 month old. They swap seats and seem happy in both. I still manage to fit a lot of shopping in the basket and have a bag with long straps which hangs from the handle. I've found it fantastic, and we walk everywhere. Dd2 outgrew the bag bit underneath by the time she was 4 months old, but with a cosy toes in the back seat she was fine sitting up. It fits in the boot of our ford Escort (is the same size when folded as our single urban detour that we used to have and about the same weight).Also the bag that you can slot in the bottom when they are little was fantastic as a place to put dd2 when she was born, we used to have it on the table next to us when we had dinner, and then carry her through and put it in the crib, so we didn't have to wake her up!

Have just realised i've written an essay! Sorry! I love my Phil and Teds, we got it on ebay for about £250 with all the extras (the panniers are useful when you go for big days out)

I'll shut up now!

I'm also trying to work out which one would be better.
My main concern is how far the extra seat reclines. The Jane doesn't look like it goes back very far. I will need to be able to sleep a newborn and a 1 year old. The back seat of the P&T looks as if it lies further back, is that right?

Having had several doubles for my boys with an 18m age gap they are now 2.8yrs and 13m i've finally given in to buying a p&t and can't wait to buy it. My friend struggles pushing the powertwin with her boys of a similar age, and i've struggled with other doubles too now my youngest is getting heavy. hoping the p&t won't be the same?!

Also we haven't got mudguards on ours and dd2 has occasionally put her finger on the tyres, I was going to buy some (you can buy lots of bits seperately for the P&T), but she seems to have stopped doing it. Okay i'm definately going to shut up now.
