I'm about to buy a 9 month to 4 years car seat. Our 0+ car seat is a Maxi Cosi. This came as part of a travel system so no real decisions were made.

Please can you just tell me the brand name (maybe model too). Thats all. Thank you!

Concorde ultimax - great as it can be used rear-facing till 13kg(?) which is much much safer than forward facing. Very happy with ours.

ChippyMinton · 05/07/2008 19:05

Britax every time for my DC

Teaandcake · 05/07/2008 20:00

Recaro Young Expert Plus with ISOfix base here.
V happy with it.

andyrobo237 · 05/07/2008 20:11

Maxi Cosi Tobi in my car, Britax IsoFix in DH car and Maxi Cosi Priori in my mums car.

DD has a Maxicosi rodi (for age 3+)

No problems iwth any of them - tobi is really easy to install

nappyaddict · 05/07/2008 20:14

i thought all infant car seats were rear facing until 13kg?

btw did you know that ideally you should keep a child rear facing until they are both 12 months and 20lbs.

Elmosgirl · 05/07/2008 20:15

We have a Britax, think it's an Eclipse

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 20:17

Maxi cosi priori XP

MuffinMclay · 05/07/2008 21:13

Just got Britax Duoplus Isofix. It is fab and totally ds1 proof (he is a mini Houdini). It replaced a Recaro Young Sport which was very much not ds1 proof.

Heated · 05/07/2008 21:14

Maxi Cosi Priori XP

sophierosie · 05/07/2008 21:17

maxi cosi xp - looked like the most comfortable one for dd - have also just got the next size up - think it is the maxi cosi rodi which looks good too.

blithedance · 05/07/2008 22:47

Recaro Young Sport - was only one which fitted our car apparently, but the DC's have been really comfortable in it, and the buckle is easy to do up. Very good quality.

Not sure about Muffin's escape artist!

Flibbertyjibbet · 05/07/2008 22:55

We had britax for that stage after the travel system thingy.

But don't be fooled by the 'age 9m-4y' tag as mine were out of them by 18m and I haven't ever come across a 4 year old still in one.

Flibbertyjibbet · 05/07/2008 22:56

Sorry, they were out of them by 2.2yo and 20m. They are big boys but not that big

LittleMissBliss · 06/07/2008 11:28

Thankyou all for your replys i'm going to have a look at few websites now. Maxi Cosi and Britax are coming out on top. I'll have a look at both and see wich one works best for our budget! Thanks again!

maxi cosi priorifix was safest according to which? when i checked a few months ago

pootleflump · 06/07/2008 22:13

My dd is 3.9 and still fits very comfortably in her Maxi Cosi Priori XP.

Fizzylemonade · 06/07/2008 22:44

Again Maxi Cosi Priori XP mainly because Which magazine said it was the best one after an isofix.

My ds1 who is between 50th & 75th centile for both height and weight only vacated his aged 4 yrs old because ds2 was 1 yr old and needed it.

Ds1 is now in the next Maxi Cosi I think it is a Rodi.

Please don't be influenced by budget, I know Mothercare did a rip off of the Maxi Cosi Priori and it came out very low on the Which tests. They are the only people who crash cars with them in and have been calling for an ENCAP rating for car seats.

My friends sister was hit in her car and they had to cut her out her car was that badly damaged. Her son's car seat was in pieces but he was absolutely fine.

It is worth spending the money on a well rated car seat than risking an inferior one.
