Does anyone NOT have a trendy pushchair?

Mine?s 8 years old and am planning to use it for new baby. Do I have to prepare myself for being openly laughed at?

Long thread of fellow un-cool pram/pushchair owners! I've got a Mamas & Papas full-on thing that is blue & yellow check with bows on the side, ho ho. Second hand with all bells and whistles cost only £50! Only used for first year and now Maclaren Techno thing since then, new from Kiddicare. I'm all for second hand and bargains, doesn't necessarily mean you are cheap but maybe you get 2 or 3 times as much for the same £££?

Davros, when ds was first born I spent £350 on a ridiculous heavy m&P pram, it was blue and yellow check, sounds the same as yours. It had a carry cot and a separate push chair bit and I used it for 3 months, at which point I bought a buggy. What a waste! Tinker, trendy AND mean, sounds fantastic! You can use the Quest from 3 months. (sorry!)

weightwatchingwaterwitch · 01/02/2005 21:58

And £350 was reduced (from £500 odd IIRC) at Daniels in Ealing (awful shop!) because it was the shop floor model and I took it because I needed it straight away - ds was born less than 12 hours later.

davros, i got that one as a freebie, as my sister works for social services and were gonna dump it. its in immaculate condition, and loooks very comfty. just need to get a matress for it as i have lost some of the stuff for my moses basket and dont know if i'll find it in time.

Davros · 01/02/2005 22:23

Sounds like the same M&P pram. I thought it was great and practical, maybe somewhat naff with blue & yellow check but did everything I wanted it to and BIG shopping basket.
Aah, Daniels of Ealing. I met "young" Mr Daniel (in his 50s) once as my dad knew him for some reason and we had lunch in the staff canteen where he knew everyone's name and asked them interesting things and made touching comments (like the Queen). Lovely sponge pud and custard.....

weightwatchingwaterwitch · 01/02/2005 22:26

Davros, it had a big shopping basket underneath, true! Daniels, hmm, like The Grace Brothers, circa 1970 or something!

Of course I didn't.
12 year old hand me down.
Been handed down twice since

bobbybob · 01/02/2005 23:28

Just got back from a 10k walk. No way would I be doing that with anything other than a 3 wheeler. Mine was trandy when I bought it and then NZ suddenly discovered Maclarens and I am now old fashioned. Don't care though.

my best pushchair has been my maclaren quest.... about £100 and perfect. NOt too trendy or old fashioned and is light, easy to fold and comfy for the dd.

joash · 02/02/2005 00:26

GS has three at the moment. Did have six up to a couple of months ago, til I donated them to worthy causes. No particular reason, except that I liked each one of them and at the time of buying, had more money than sense.

Currently has

  • a gorgeous, vivid, bright red maclaren with carrying strap, etc. My show of buggy, not seen another like it
  • a 'disney' buggy with Winnie the pooh emblazoned on the back and a series of drinkd trays and various other attachments.
  • a mega - cheapo thing that I can sling about on buses, trains, etc.
joash · 02/02/2005 00:27

that should be 'show off' buggy

alexsmum · 02/02/2005 00:39
