I refuse to buy new as its my third and FINAL baby

I'm confused about P3, pramette etc etc

What I want is this:-

A pliko that I can fit a carrycot bit to (or have laying flat and facing me IYKWIM )

I also want to be able to put a car seat on there.

There seems to be lots of different type of pliko the top one on this listing looks reasonable - will it do the job

What should I be looking out for?

thanks in advance (misdee, where are you?!)

Please advise meeeeeee

yes that p3 can have the mypod carrycot and a car seat attached to it.

the prammette is a pram facing you that turns into a forward facing pushchair so no removable carrycot thing and is still car seat compatible.

chicco do the same sort of system as the P3 much cheaper.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 18:52

Thank you cargirl

a mate had a chicco and I found it rather rickety TBH

If you don't want the carrycot to detach you may as well get the pramette they are virtually the same frame.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 18:55

So the pramette is different to the P3? Itold you I needed help!!

My mate has a pramette and I think it's fab - it lies down flat like a pram and then you twiddle a few knobs and hey presto it's a buggy. It folds up umbrella style too so fits nicely in a car boot. I would deffo have one if I were to have another dc [wistful]

CarGirl · 17/06/2008 18:58

Yes it is different.

It is the same as the P3 except when you lay it down flat you can un zip a bit and a bit pops up, then you reverse the hood and it is a rear facing pram. So essentially it is the fabric that is different not the frame.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 19:14

So on a P3 you lay the buggy bit flat and then attach a pod thing, is that right? Sorry to be dim! oh and thanks!

OP posts:
CarGirl · 17/06/2008 19:15

Yes on the P3 you lay it back (fully reclined) and then you attach the mypod carrycot.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 19:18

..and what happens to the hood? Does it swing over to beind baby's head?

I don't know anything about the P3, but j'adore my pramette. I found it really really handy to be able to turn it into a pram (baby facing me) without a separate carry cot. It folds up small (space at a premium here). It has been sooooo sturdy and reliable (3.5 years on constant abuse and it's still going strong). Car-seat clips into it nicely. I lurrrve it.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 19:25

Thanks G

Space is a factor for me, too (narrow victorian hall gah) so I think this is the right choice

Is that the only difference between teh P3 and the pramette, the need to have a separate pod?

(misdee i've seeeeeeen yooooou)

OP posts:
babyjjbaby · 17/06/2008 19:49

i would stick to a pramette as first of all i had a pliko p3 with a navetta carry cot and found it a pain for putting in the car and if it is raining u have to mess around clicking it on as oposed to pramett it is there and ready but do bear in mind if u have it in pramette mode u can't put the carseat on it u have to unzip it all as when it is in pramette mode u can't get to the catches but tbh i haven't really used it as a travel system hth

CarGirl · 17/06/2008 19:50

Yes in summary the only difference is that you need the seperate pod for the P3 to become a rear facing pram.

If you buy a pramette 2nd hand then ensure that they have the pram apron too.

babyjjbaby · 17/06/2008 19:50

or u can have a p3 and just a mypod cover not the whole cot

MamaG · 17/06/2008 19:51

so I either faff with a carseat, or faff with the pod thing?

OP posts:
CarGirl · 17/06/2008 19:52

What's a mypod cover????

MamaG · 17/06/2008 19:52

this is so confusing! So a pod tihng - does it click in, or just strap in - i.e. less faff?

OP posts:
CarGirl · 17/06/2008 19:53

Yes MamaG faff with carseat or faff with the pod thing.

But you know how we all tell you how bad it is to have your baby in the car seat they need to be flat

The mypod would be handy if you want it to double up as a moses basket.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 19:54

lol
I know but its handy when they're sleeping isn't it!

The mypod thing looked floppy on ebay

OP posts:
CarGirl · 17/06/2008 19:54

Pod thing clicks in like the car seat would (I think 99% certain) using the same catches.

That does mean you would have to fit the mypod in your boot with the pushchair.

babyjjbaby · 17/06/2008 19:56

yep the mypod cot clicks in the same as the carseat but a cover just goes round the bumper bar and the bottom of the seat so it is more like a pramette i'll see if i can show u

CarGirl · 17/06/2008 19:58

Hmmm I thought a mypod was the solid thing or have I got confused with the navetta - I thought the navetta was for the old pliko and the mypod for the P3 IYSWIM

I will go look at ebay. Have you looked on the M&P website at the p3 & pramette I think it has demos on it?
