Are these bags 'chavy' ?

Hi , I was going to buy one of these bags for my birthday but my daughter (22) says they look Chavy ! what do you think ?

They look like they’re from one of the blokes who sell knock offs on the beach in Spain!

Why do you care what anyone else thinks of them?! If you like them, buy them fuck what everyone else thinks, they're not the ones who will be carrying them around.

I like the first one. Also they are not actually cheap but a few hundred quid. I love coach bags so I say get it if you like it and probably the chain is detachable depending on your mood.

They look like bags from a market stall.

Also just found out there is a thing called Y2K fashion which makes me in fashion as have never moved on style wise or mentally from the late 1990s/early 2000s.

For the money i think you could get something so much nicer. I have seen bags in Primark and new look which look classier and more expensive than those to be honest.

The chain is an alternative shoulder strap.

They look very 90’s to me, but maybe they are supposed to. Lots of nicer bags out there.

If you like this kind of chain bag, check out Stella McCartney ones. I’ve seen the youth wearing them and they look nice.

They look dated and I'll just mention that I had a shoulder bag with a chain in the early/mid 90s. It took the pile off a beautiful wool coat where the chain touched/rubbed it.

I don't know about chavvy, but they're both really ugly.

My daughters love bags that looks like they were around in the early 00’s. They seek them out in charity shops when I wouldn’t give them a second look.

For the price and given your uncertainty I would find a way to subtly suss out whether she likes either of them before buying.

just checked these. Very nice. But although designed in the UK they're made in Spain. Shame. I do love a proper British brand

It’s very important that no one deviates away from the accepted fashions OP. Have you thought about the Loewe Puzzle bag? You can’t move for people carrying these and then posting about them on social media. Of course next year it will be something else and your “Classic” will be old hat. My point is If you like the bags get one.

I’m about to buy the coach bag in black with silver hardware. It’s gorgeous! I love the chain, it elevates the style. It has 3 straps you can wear - chain, normal leather strap and cross body strap. All can be removed/interchanged. It’s classy. It’s the nicest bag I’ve seen for ages at that price point.

It's the chain that does it but I actually quite like it, depends what outfit you use it with, it would suit some.

I don't like this style but it's my own preference. If you like the way they look, go get them! Life's too short to worry about what others think about the bag you like

I think it's fine generally without the chain

The chain gives it the Y2K vibe if you're going for that - but it's a fun not an elevated look - it does cheapen the look of it overall

How can a chain even be comfy? Get a bag without a chain.

The chain does elevate the look. It elevates it from plain to interesting/different. Have you seen the bag in real life?

I can't believe how much they cost, especially as one of them is just plastic and not even real leather!

I don't like them, I'm afraid. To me, they look like the sort of thing that I used to see in Woolworths or Peacocks or in the local street market. In other words, they look cheap. Nothing intrinsically wrong with cheap stuff, providing it actually is cheap and you don't part with almost £300 in order to buy it!

Stupidly expensive, but look as if you bought them for a fiver down the market. Just no.
