Can someone please explain why I have over £60 in Advantage points but yet each time I try to exchange them for items either on-line or in store, it will not let me check out so I end up paying with cash?😫

You can't use them toward a purchase, you need to be able to pay in full for the item you order with those points. Could that be the issue?

The self serve machines can be funny. Ask staff to help if it's not working or go to a normal till and they'll be able to help you to scan your points.

The items I wanted to purchase was a meal deal and some cotton wool. I have £60+ in points so more than enough to cover the cost

It should work, you can't use them in part payment but you have clearly got way more points than the cost, I'd ask to spend them at a normal till (if you can find one).

I tried the normal till today, the lady couldn't understand why it wouldn't work. Told me to ring customer services 🙄
They were not helpful all 😖

Silly idea maybe but have you tried buying something with points online? You wouldn’t need to use the physical card, so it might work. £10 Tuesday tomorrow, I think.

I’ve got £7 expiring soon. Tried all
sorts of ways to spend it on the boots app today and it just won’t work.
no boots nearby either.
i Know it’s nothing in the big scheme of things - but it’s pissed me off so much!!

Their customer services are really good. An offer for 650 points didn’t work on my card and they responded and added so efficiently - all by email. Definitely ask.

Ilovecrisps - I don’t think the points expire, do they? I hope not, I’m saving for Christmas presents!

It wasn’t working for me one day to pay in full with points and the reason was because I bought a carrier bag. Once the staff member removed it, I could actually pay for the items with points! It was because the money for the carrier bags contributes to charity

My £16 something wouldn’t let me spend it before expiring. That really bothered me and I haven’t used boots since.

You can't use them as part payment for something. You can only use them for something worth £60 or less.

I had this. The only solution in the end was to go in-store and pay for stuff in person. For some reason this worked but it wouldn't let me buy anything with points online.

It really would be very useful if you could part pay for stuff with your Boots points.
If what you want to buy is £49 and you have £30 in Boots points you can’t put the points towards the purchase and then pay £19. It’s daft.
Also if you have a Boots advantage card in Ireland it’s not usable in Northern Ireland, England, Scotland or Wales.

@GinnyFizz So I had no idea that Boots Advantage Card points do expire if the card hasn't been used for a year. Internet search also revealed: Specifically, Boots will remove points from registered accounts that haven't been used for 12 months, or if the account is closed. For unregistered physical cards, points will be removed after 12 months from the first transaction.

So perhaps one of the above is the issue?

You definitely should be able to, in whole or part, something wrong with the account. Try emailing customer service, I sometimes feel it’s easier to explain problems and get resolution by email rather than speaking to some random call centre type.

Definitely contact customer services it’s far too much money to waste it might the card and they might be able to replace it and put your points on it. To be fair to the staff they won’t know why the card is playing up so not necessarily unhelpful just not experts on the card.

As far as I know these points do not expire. I am recycling lots of bottles and toothpaste tubes, you get £5.00 worth of points when you recycle 5 items and then spend £10.00 on something.
Am saving up for an electric toothbrush! My points have never expired so far, does anyone know?
