So I have an lg compressor which is currently crapola, the copressor bit inside it has roken and the brush bit in the head wont turn round properly anymore, the damn thing is less than a year old too.
Anyhoo it works ok on the hard floors of my house but is utter shite on the carpets and rugs.
I have a golden retriever too so lots of pet hair to deal with.
I was thinking of the vax but really that just cos ive seen it on telly.

Oh wisdom of mumsnet bestow upon me your hoover related genius.

dyson ball

i know Dysons get mixed reviews on MN but i really like it

potoftea · 21/05/2008 09:23

Recently bought a dyson and for the first time in about a year our carpets are free of pet hairs. It is very powerful when doing the stairs with the hose part though, so not for the elderly or infirm in my opinion.

Could you borrow a friend's vacuum cleaner and try out different ones firs, because what one person likes another hates, and it is a product you'll use daily , and is expensive enough.

Whooosh · 21/05/2008 09:38

SEBO-absolutely bloomin' fantastic.
USed to have a Vacuum cleaner addiction-tried everything going until I found my beloved SEBO 5 yrs ago.
I love it,it almost pulls me round the house when I hoover-it is fab, fab, fab!

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 21/05/2008 09:39

miele if you can afford it but dyson if not.

iMum · 21/05/2008 09:50

Whoosh what sebo have you got? I really want something thats gonna suck my carpets to within an inch of its life, and cope with the hard floor too-the money I have spent over the years on hoovers, i really want to get hti right.

Whooosh · 21/05/2008 12:24

I have the upright one and boy does it suck!
It also senses the change in flooring from carpet to wood and changes it's brush heights itself-no having to push buttons or anything.

Just checked the model and it is a Sebo Automatic x4 but they will have changed as it is at least 5yrs old.

I promise you faithfully you will not be disappointed.

Seona1973 · 21/05/2008 13:57

dysons are more expensive than miele vaccuum cleaners. We have a miele as that what was recommended on here (had a dyson before that)

Sunshinemummy · 21/05/2008 14:00

Miele - my cleaner requested it specifically and it's fab.

Whooosh · 21/05/2008 14:01

That's because you haven't experienced the joy of SEBO-and I honestly don't work for them.Wish I did as I would have one for every room in the house!

iMum · 21/05/2008 14:37

whooosh, is your sebo a bagged cleaner? ive seen it online for £199-a fair price?

OP posts:
Whooosh · 21/05/2008 14:43

Yes it is bagged-I prefer bagged as you don't inhale a cloud of dust when you empty it.
£199 sounds like an incredibly good price-is it 1300w??

Bramshott · 21/05/2008 14:44

Not a Bosch - BX3 I think it's called. It's crap.

dramaqueen · 21/05/2008 14:45

I've just bought a Sebo X4 - wow, it's fantastic. It has breathed new life back into our old carpets.

Whooosh · 21/05/2008 14:46

iMum-is it on the Kitchen village website?
If so-that is the one I have got and paid £300 for 5 yrs ago still worth every penny.
Far from pretty but I love it-and you will too!

dramaqueen · 21/05/2008 14:49

It was from here. I think the price includes delivery, and they sent it within 2 days.

Whooosh · 21/05/2008 14:55

Hello Drama-glad to know I am not alone-people don't believe how fab they are until they try them....

iMum · 21/05/2008 14:56

this is the one ive seen is that it whoosh?

OP posts:
Whooosh · 21/05/2008 15:06

That's the honey!!!

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 21/05/2008 15:14

i had a crap sebo and hated it. i am sure the newer ones are better

Mummywheel · 21/05/2008 16:42

Miele here too.

claireybee · 21/05/2008 16:52

Miele. I ummed and ahhed about getting one for ages cos of the price but am so glad I did-it is brilliant

Birdly · 21/05/2008 16:52

We love our Miele!

Poledra · 21/05/2008 16:55

Do NOT get a Hoover 1900 Dust Manager - it's crap, and two years later, the handle keeps unlocking itself and the whole blardy thing falls over - one of these days it's going to land on dd2 (who will keep fiddling with the buttons).
