New Ocado App

Does anyone like the new Ocado app?
And if so, why?!
It seems very shouty & badly laid out (I'm on an iPhone 13, so it should be fine, I guess.)
Even worse, it's not offering Flash sales any more, have they stopped doing them?
What am I missing here??

The thing that irritates me most is the trolley. What happened to the cupboard/fridge/freezer sorted view?! I keep forgetting to add things because it's such a jumble.

Bestdrinkever · 02/06/2025 18:05

I think that they think that they will score more this way! They hope you will add stuff that you then forget to take out later as there is no overview of everything on one page like there used to be.
When searching for items I also preferred being able to see more of them on a page than what they have now.

DoNoTakeNo · 02/06/2025 22:09

Absolutely, Bestdrinkever - i also liked the ability to compare similar products, rather than just see those from the same brand.
Its not (just) nostalgia for the look and feel of the old app but also the decrease in functionality.

Yes. Completely agree with you both.

Sarah2891 · 03/06/2025 13:02

I don't know why they had to change it. It was brilliant before, so easy to use.

Hayley1256 · 03/06/2025 13:06

I'm not loving it either! Took me ages to do my shop!

I feel like this one must have been cheaper. There is no way anyone could think it was better. Maybe someone’s kid knocked is up for her year five project.

Telling me it’s a learning curve! I don’t want a learning curve for my shopping! Twats.

You can’t find the products and you can’t tell how much anything is and you have to perform five actions to put something in your basket.

This is all horrifying. I've stuck with Ocado for over 20 years very largely because the website is so incredibly easy to use and the app is excellent. I've had an email this week telling me that it's all change next week. I am full of foreboding. Sad

SapatSea · 06/06/2025 17:44

I sometimes do a Morrisons delivery and their website and app have looked like this for a while and I hated it. The ease of use of the Ocado app and website was their USP. They also changed the website and app without warning when I had a big shop with amendments not checked out his week and it lost them all just as I was butting up against the cut off period for editing and so I had to input them all again.

I wasn't happy to start with but I've got used to the app now. No it's not as good as before but it has some extra features I like - estimated time of delivery is one of them.

Growlybear83 · 06/06/2025 17:49

My app hasn’t changed so I’m dreading getting an update based on what others have said.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/06/2025 18:04

Estimated delivery time is of little interest to me as I always go for a very early slot and they almost never arrive more than a few minutes after it starts. I could coutn on the fingers of one hand the number of times they've been late in 20+ years. I may have been lucky.

WildFlowerBees · 06/06/2025 18:07

My app has deleted all of my info and now tells me it doesn’t deliver to me.

Me too - not looking forward to the change :(

Same here. I have approx 4 mins free a week to sort out my online shop so I really can’t start learning a new system that sounds worse than the current one.

Definitelynotem · 06/06/2025 19:01

I don’t mind it but I used to get lots of free coupon offers to try things and now only seem to get 30p off. Makes me not want to bother reviewing items

You will need every one of those four minutes just to add one item on what used to be ‘one click’ and has now been renamed ‘quick add’.

Wolfcub · 07/06/2025 14:42

I absolutely hate the new app, and the new receipt structure. It just all seems to have made shopping and being able to choose the right products more difficult. There also seem to be a lot less meal deals or decent new stuff and I’m fed up of having Holland and Barratt shite pushed down my neck on every page

BCBird · 07/06/2025 14:45

I don't mind it. It seems to try to be adopting a casual tone I think. I have still had flash sales. I go in via website. Concerned about some of the ridiculous price hikes though.

DisapprovingSpaniel · 07/06/2025 14:48

Some things in the new app are a bit better, some things are a bit worse (imo). Overall, it's fine for me.

But also 20+ years in IT has taught me one thing: whenever anything changes, there are lots of people who are unhappy regardless. People get comfortable with how something works and then can get very unhappy when it's a bit different. Unless it's a total disaster, everyone settles down again to the new version in time.

ChompandaGrazia · 07/06/2025 14:50

Am I using a different app to everyone else? Mine isn’t that much of a change to the old one.

FurForksSake · 07/06/2025 14:51

I don’t mind it, but I can’t work out how to get it to search for more than one thing at a time.

i dislike the new receipt format, it was better before.

it still beats the Sainsbury, tesco and definitely the Asda online shopping portals for me.

im hopeful some functionality improves as they stop supporting the old app.

It’s like when they made a big change on MN about 7/8 years ago. So many people were in a strop and stomping off, and it took a little getting used to, but I doubt anyone remembers what the old one was like now.

Yes, you're right.

But I'm still grumpy about having a jumble of products in the trolley rather than sorted by fridge/cupboard. It was so useful, and already existed - why get rid of really helpful functionality? The storage requirements must be held in their databases already, it's not difficult.
