With a shamefaced grin at myself for starting a pram thread ... bearing in mind its a long time since I had a baby ... would i really regret only being able to use a carseat for the first six months (rather than a "proper" pram?)

Space is limited as this is baby no. 3 and we have a dog so not lots of boot space.

Victorian terraced house so long narrow hall.

I def want a pram/puschair that I can attach a car seat to and was looking at quinny zapp purely for the size of it when folded. However, as it can't be used without the car seat until baby is 6 months old, and I know children shouldnt be in car seats for too long, I wonder if I'm being daft for considering it?

yep i was repeating sorry!

YouNeverKnow · 06/05/2008 20:54

i had a play with the newest ones and found them quite heavy compared to the one i had two years back

MamaG · 06/05/2008 20:55

I think a visit to a pram shop is in order.

On teh one hand a heavyduty storller would be good as its v portable, folds neatly to go in car, doesn't ake up too much space in hall etc

However, I really want baby to face me and am 50/50 about wanting a car seat to attach if necessary, whcih limits me

No, she didn't take her phone, we are going cold turkey!!

I knew you would be proud about the shoes. I also have impeccably nail-polished toe nails

Have you noticed that I'm still here and not actually putting washing away. Isn't that the most boring job EVER?

My job is ok lately actually, witch of a boss is leaving next week so we have all happy-danced all round the office. Just stressed cos have organised a conference later this week and lots of stuff to do and only have tomorrow to finalise everything but it will be fine, I have done all I can do now. Just want it to be a success.

Get a proper pram woman, and a proper car seat and use a sling when you need to use the car

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 06/05/2008 20:58

if you have a boy cat me, ds4 isnt growing well and will be in newborn for a while so will have loads....

we went for a graco mojo in the end (because we changed car after buying a chico and tr wouldnt fir- arrgggghhhh) but we were sorely tempted by the loola, which seems useable both with car seat and without from birth, and theres usually loads on ebay

MamaG · 06/05/2008 21:00

kbear yes I hate putting washing away. Good luck with con, sure it will go swimmingly!

Shosh - I don't like slings, find them uncomfortable due to large nork/small back combo! Maybe one of those ringy fabricy things would be good.

PEachy - thank you thats really kind of you! I was looking at a loola earlier - seem quite compact, can face either way and can attach a car seat so a good option. How are you finding the graco?

I completely love my silvercross 3d, no regrets at all. It's 10KG and takes roughly the same space in the boot as (ahem ) a bag of golf clubs. The pram format probably won't last much longer (DD 4.5 months/14lbs), but there's a suitable peep hole when in push-chair mode. Ventura car seat seems fine too.

accessorizequeen · 06/05/2008 21:03

[[for misdee] I have set of belly belt thingies (both button & slide) if you want them. I fished them out tonight to stick on here. Button missing from one of the elastic bits but otherwise in great nick. FFP?

Shoshe · 06/05/2008 21:05

I had a HUGE Silver cross for DsS1and faithfully polished it every Sunday) and had a new fangled buggy thing that DB brought me back from the States, everyone used to stop me and ask what it was.

I used to keep the Silver Cross at Moms in the town and use the buggy for on and off the bus , had planned to have DS2 in a sling for the bus and DS1 was going on a pram seat ontop of teh Silver Cross in the town.

Oh how times have changed

frauster · 06/05/2008 21:09

The 3d also has a much narrower wheel base than a quinny/bug, much to the envy of my local mummy buddies when fighting our way into cafes.

YouNeverKnow · 06/05/2008 21:16

mama g

mamas and papas have brought out the switch which means the baby can face you even when its outgrown the pram mode.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 06/05/2008 21:17

if you can find victoriansqualor she has a loola (look on the april antenatal thread, or the training to be a doula one)

the graco is fine, actually. i'd pop a fleece liner in if i were you (its so cheap its ok) but it easily fits in our corridor (and our house 200 years older and proportionately narrower lol)

dh loved the quinny but decided against it for same reason as you- buggy age. if we could go back again it'd be the loola, no question (we dont have one that faces and i really wanted that)

YouNeverKnow · 06/05/2008 21:18

do you not find the loola chassis wobbly?

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 06/05/2008 21:19

the ones i pushed were fine, is that a problem you have?

Ceolas · 06/05/2008 21:21

Don't get a Loola. I wouldn't listen to the wise Misdee when she told me it was heavy. It was just about the only thing I could fit in my car, but boy was she right!

YouNeverKnow · 06/05/2008 21:22

the ones that i have played with the chassis handle bits wobble a bit- as in there is give there. does that make sense? its put me off having one.
they have some lovely colours though

MamaG · 07/05/2008 16:04

I think my head's going to fall off

OP posts:
Ceolas · 07/05/2008 16:06

I absolutely know the feeling. Researched it for months and still got it wrong

Tend to think cod's right in the long run!

misdee · 07/05/2008 16:06

loola will break your back.

MamaG · 07/05/2008 16:07

I just think I'd miss the facing baby thing if I got a McLaren

OP posts:
MamaG · 07/05/2008 16:07

Is it heavy to push (iykwim) or lift?

OP posts:
Ceolas · 07/05/2008 16:10

Heavy in both respects.

misdee · 07/05/2008 16:18

its heavey to get up kerbs, is heavey to lift, heavy to push.

what about an icoo infinity. easy to push, easy to fold, does come up a bit bigger than most but is cheap and cheerful.
