i had a zapp but would have prefered a zia, just because they have the basket underneath.

apart from that i dont think there is much difference?

Fillyjonk · 30/03/2008 19:55

what are these things?

1legmummy · 30/03/2008 20:54

they are pushchairs

how old is your lo???
i LOVE my zapp, yes there are a few small niggles(no shopping basket and no recline), the shopping basket is easy enough to resolve.ut if your lo sleeps a lot in it i wouldnt go for it. my lo just turned 2 and we have had a zapp for 6 monthsish, and dd naps in it,she looks comfy enough but i wouldnt use it if she would need a big sleep in it.
i think the zia looks easier to fold/unfold than the zapp though, and i reclines, but i've heard of several people who said it was quite unstable on uneven ground, and cant be pushed one handed.

1legmummy · 30/03/2008 22:32

Its such a difficult decision. My Son is 16 months but does not walk yet.

I am an amputee but also have weak wrists so the zapp sounds better for leaning on etc but I like the way the Zia is easier to put up and down.

I also like shopping!!

zapp is a dreadful pram - rickety, no basket, hard to fold. zia looks better with recline and
bag

sazm · 30/03/2008 23:30

maybeyou didnt have much luck scottichmummy, mines is very smooth to push, and is easy to fold (not so easy to unfold though and maybe wouldnt be great for your wrists) i hang one of those cheap swimming type bags on the back of mine and have never had a problem with it tipping,
i seen a video advert on a website( sorry i can't remember which one) and the zia looked SO easy to fold/unfold)
TBH i dont think you could really lean on either of them(i have a bad back and used to often lean on my big travel system!)

scottishmummy · 31/03/2008 08:36

i see lots of other zapps about.only used it for a few months.stopped when it tipped over spontaneously with baby in it (car seat mode)now its planes only for it

amazonianwoman · 31/03/2008 09:17

If you have weak wrists don't get the Zia. Friend selling hers because she got bad RSI in both arms/shoulders - it veers badly even on flat pavements. RSI cleared up as soon as she stopped using it.

You can get underseat baskets on ebay for the Zapp

scottishmummy · 31/03/2008 12:47

blimey!thats awful- so what is a good lightweight stroller?

amazonianwoman · 31/03/2008 14:07

Micralite? NEver had one but looks easy to fold

sazm · 31/03/2008 16:52

how about one of the new versions of the m&p luna???
or maybe just a normal style stroller?

1legmummy · 31/03/2008 20:24

I cannot fold the normal umbrella stroller or put it up, I cant use anything that I have to balance on one leg or pull up with my foot

Anyone got a zia they are happy with?

Its between that and a zapp

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 31/03/2008 20:42

micralite is a easy to fold. pull the lever at back at back. would that be suitable?

sazm · 31/03/2008 20:42

yeah sorry stoopid me lol, wasnt thinking, a zapp would prob be no good to you either then,as it is aukward to fold.
i would go for a zia then, god i cant think of the website, but i seen a video demonstrating it,and it is MUCH easier to fold/unfold thn the zapp,

i also seen earlier in the mothercare book, the graco mosaic which is a stroller but has a one handed fold system????
xx

1legmummy · 31/03/2008 20:50

Oh I went to Mothercare today as well!! I have tried the Zapp and I could fold it fairly easily, I am just a little worried that it does not recline.

I am worried with the Zia because some people have said its rickety. I have seen the website though and it looks lovely.

I have a M&P Frankie Ziko if anyone is interested? I love it but my leg does not.!!

Thanks everyone for all your helpxxx

video of how to zia here - click view movie. looks same as zapp to me

sazm · 31/03/2008 20:53

lol glad you managed to find somewhere to try it,could you unfold it ok???i cant seem to get the hang of unfolding mine at all!!
i find it really easy to fold but i stand on one leg and use my foot on the bottom bit to fold it.
sarahxx

1legmummy · 31/03/2008 20:59

Yes I folded it really easily and also found it easy to put up!! Also, I found the blue one in Toysrus for £99.99 so a complete bargain, but just worries me that I wont be able to reclibne him - am I worrying too much??

amazonianwoman · 31/03/2008 21:21

DS hasn't ever slept in his Zapp, but my friend's DD had a good nap in it, head didn't loll forward. She was 21mths at the time.
