Which supermarket-brand nappies are any good?

Will be shortly coming out of Midi size 3 newborns, wondering which might be best non-Pampers/Huggies options for absorbency and leak-avoidance. Average of 5-6 changes a day at moment, FF and only one 'trauma-nappy' on a good day. My DD not yet mobile, but kicks legs a lot.

The ASDA active ones are good and much cheaper than named brands.

sazm · 25/03/2008 12:23

we have used tesco super fit ones in the past, very good, but they are more bulky than papmers ones,i find the tesco ones are as good absorbancy wise, just the fact they are a bit bulkier.
maybe worth trying a small pack to see.
i tried boots ones but they didnt hold nearly as much.

FAQ · 25/03/2008 12:24

Tesco, with Boots a close second

ScoobyDoo · 25/03/2008 12:25

Tesco super fit ones are fab i have used them since dd was 3 months she is now 2.2 they never leak, they are flexi & a fab price you can't beat them, honestly.

PotPourri · 25/03/2008 12:25

Have heard people say asda are good.

I use cloth, but when in disposibles on holiday ro soemthing I jsut use LIDL as they are really cheap. BUT, I don;t think they hold as much wee. But so cheap compared to pampers etc, and only short term, and I shop in LIDL usually anyway, so no real hassle getting them.

ChickenSoupDragon · 25/03/2008 12:27

I've had no trouble with Tesco's Super fit ones. I've used them with all 3 SmallDragons

StealthPolarBear · 25/03/2008 12:28

i like tesco essentials

SabaSaba · 25/03/2008 16:11

Tescos super fit - really good. Sainsburys are awfull

mrbojangles · 25/03/2008 16:14

Asda the best of the many nappies ive used

BITCAT · 25/03/2008 16:16

I have used the boots ones, pretty good no leaking or any signs of nappy rash!! but i tend to use the cheap ones during the day and use huggies at nite! the asda ones arent bad either!

aquababe · 25/03/2008 16:16

tescos are def better than sainsburys imo
but then I too prefer washables so don't have a bulky bum issue

meemar · 25/03/2008 16:18

tescos are best of all supermarket brands we tried.

I think they are actually better than pampers.

FloriaTosca · 25/03/2008 16:18

I'm generally a cloth user for my ds but for long trips/overnight stays etc Tescos seem good to me

ScoobyDoo · 25/03/2008 16:22

Ia gree the Tescos ones are better than pampers well they have been for my dd. has to be The Super fit ones though.

Rowingboat · 25/03/2008 16:27

Asda we used at night the odd time and found they fitted well and were absorbent enough for the whole night. I did buy the pull-ups once, but they were rubbish for nights, mind you I do not recommend pull-ups of any description for night - pee comes out of the side.
I bought them partially because they were recommended by Which.
Have also tried Sainsburys, Boots and Tesco, but preferred the Asda nappies for nights. Pampers leaked for us as well.
The absolute worst were Lidl's nappies, just leaked and leaked and leaked, every night soggy.
Used cloth during the day.

tellnoone · 25/03/2008 16:27

Morrisons are good - very like Huggies.

Macdog · 25/03/2008 16:28

Tesco and ASDA are both excellent IMHO

didindan · 25/03/2008 16:30

tesco superfit
Now use tesco pullups
both fab on DD and DS

burstingbug · 25/03/2008 16:31

Tesco nappies are great
Boots are good.
Asda ones I would not touch with a barge pole - I hate them!
I've not used Superdrug ones for ages, but I think they were ok.

Kewcumber · 25/03/2008 16:34

Another vote for Tesco, active fit are great. In fact even their really cheap value nappies are pretty efficient I just couldn;t get yused to the plastic covering.

137wallis · 25/03/2008 16:44

Tescos here too active fit or their babydry ones are both great!

VictorianPASqualor · 25/03/2008 16:48

We use tesco pull-ups as 'nanite pants' for DS and sainsburys nappies were the only ones that didn't irritate DD's sensitive skin.
So I'll put in a vote for either of those.

mybrainaches · 25/03/2008 16:49

Tescos

isaidno · 25/03/2008 16:49

Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons good.
Didn't like Asda.
Lidl and Aldi fine too.

johnnybuoy · 25/03/2008 16:52

What are the actual reasons why people think the tesco are better than pampers? We have used both and didn't think there was much difference, possibly thought the pampers were thinner and would allow him more mobility. Didn't think there was much difference in the price either but haven't checked in a while.
