LOL. I have just spent the day lusting after a Roomba and could have started this thread myself!
We have a dog and I think the house needs doing every day, but I can't do it every day and that makes me miserable. I want a ROOMBA!
You need it now as you will still need a working hoover for the stairs, so get it now and the old one will last longer as it only has to do the stairs......

I love my roomba. He pootles about cleaning my house all the time. He even tells me when he needs defluffed (it is not difficult to do, Calisteregg).

You will still need an ordinary cleaner for the stairs and an occasional run over the carpet, but he does all the hard floors beautifully.

You definitely NEED one pecka.

LOL...!!! Just googled it..! thats fantastic .

Look around though..cheaper than £200.....

LadyMuck · 17/03/2008 20:14

How long does your battery stay charged? Mine doesn't seem to be lasting that long at present. Not sure whether to call John Lewis.

Heated · 17/03/2008 20:16

Tell me if I've got this wrong, but does a Roomba dock and recharge? Do you have to have the socking station specially fitted? Where?

And will a Roomba cope with going over a slighly raised carpet rod, between one room to another?

Heated · 17/03/2008 20:17

docking, not socking!

£165 in Costco. It will climb onto rugs and over the divider thingies between rooms. Mine usually docks itself as it runs out of charge but it sometimes gets lost and I have to guide it home, then it sings its happy song. I love it ....the cats don't though!

Heated · 17/03/2008 20:29

But if you have to plug him back in doesn't it half defeat the purpose? I thought you could programme a Roomba to come out, do its special stuff and return to base whilst I was at work, no?

And where do you charge him? Does the charger have to specially installed?

ernest · 17/03/2008 20:30

on other thread recently, people raving about robomop. Anyone know (I guess I know answer?) if that's any good, and comparison to roomba.

Is there also a mopping roomba?

I thuink that I got the impression that the battery should last up to 90 minutes, but I haven't been getting that sort of performance - closer to 30/40. Is that average?

Our house has never been so clean since we got our Roomba (530). He cleans downstairs one day while I'm out on the school run, and upstairs the next. I vacuum the stairs when I can be bothered, but the place looks so much better. I think I only ever managed to vacuum about once a week before.

And it keeps us tidier because the floors need to be clear. Ds is paranoid Roomba will "eat" his bits of Lego and so on, so he tidies them up without prompting!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 17/03/2008 22:07

dp says ' how does it get into corners?'

please answer kindly a lot depends on this
