Mine has expired after 25 years, and I need to replace it pronto - but they are not cheap, are they?

Bump!

I have buns to make.....

OP posts:
Blu · 03/02/2008 16:59

I just have to go with the general £150 price then?

AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 17:01

i've never seen them for less, but you do sometimes get extra bits. did lakeland have an offer recently?

AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 17:01

having said that

Blu · 03/02/2008 17:22

Crikey!

Over Christmas, my mum gave me an advert for a special offer Magimix - £99!!!! Like a fool I didn't keep it as I wasn't facing up to the fact that mine is making 'slipping fan belt' noises - and actually started to smell of burning last time I used it.

I am a fool.

A fool.

you are a FOOL.

you dope.

redadmiral · 03/02/2008 17:35

Will keep an eye out.

Don't throw your old lid away - mine's broken, and they've changed the design (for a stronger one ) so I'd have to pay for new bowl too. Am on the scrounge for an unwanted lid...

Blu · 03/02/2008 17:36

£99!!!!

But maybe it was a small underpowered end-of-line embarrassment to the mighty Magimix company??

No...it was the Real Thing.

Oh well. A boyfriend bought me my old one as a present when I was a student (bizarre) so I haven't done too badly.

But £99......

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 17:36

hah! me too! i'd like to remind blu that i was here when she needed me... links and all sorts.

AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 17:37

me too on the broken lid, i mean. how much does it cost to replace the bowl, RA?

redadmiral · 03/02/2008 17:38

I'm not going to put up much of a fight for it...

Blu · 03/02/2008 17:38

Redadmiral - you are v welcome to any parts of mine...but it is truly ancient.

It is a 2800 Grande Cuisine.

The bowl and lid are intact.

OP posts:
Blu · 03/02/2008 17:39

Yes, Aitch was my lifeline...but unless it fits, it's no use to anyone, is it?

OP posts:
Blu · 03/02/2008 17:40

I have to go into work...don't fight while I'm away!

(wonders if the new 3200 series is bigger or smaller than my old one?)

OP posts:
redadmiral · 03/02/2008 17:40

X-posts...

Sort of lost the will to live when I ploughed through the magimix site to that piece of information, and thought I'd throw the problem back at the lovely John Lewis where I bought it from not so many years ago...

Also was going to try superglue....

redadmiral · 03/02/2008 17:43

Thank you Blu. I think mine was the 4something kind, one down from the biggest one they had at the time.

I think yours might not fit.

Will try to glue the flappy bit of plastic back on before it falls off completely, but I'm not convinced.

AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 17:43

mine was from JL too, they are normally Very Good about that sort of thing (while charging you through the nose).
it's just the lid that's cracked on mine, RA, so if you think Blu's will fit then go for it as mine is still useable.
i think they have recently brought out a spiffy new one that takes up less counter space, blu.

redadmiral · 03/02/2008 17:46

No, aitch - you first, I insist

AitchTwoOh · 03/02/2008 17:49

well, i think mine was the largest one they had five years ago so they're not the same size in any case. i bet Blu's lost the will to live by now anyway...

Wisteria · 03/02/2008 17:51

Blu I have one which works fine but is about 30 years old, sitting in my wardrobe (don't ask ) FFP if you want it?

Got to go now but will check in later to see if you're interested.

Blu · 03/02/2008 21:13

30 years old? Goodness!

yes - very interested, if it still works!

ooooh - all excited now!

But Wisteria....why is it in your wardrobe?

OP posts:
Wisteria · 03/02/2008 23:16

it's fine, but only has the cutting bade now - although I never used any of the the other parts anyway.
