Get yourself onto Freecycle and ask for one!

There been about 6 on our local one in the past month or so!

MegaLegs · 14/12/2007 12:20

Have you tried freecycle - there are often dining tables on ours. Even if it wasn't the most beautiful table in the world covered with a cloth a decs it would do the job. Then after Christmas you could put it back on freecycle if you didn't want to keep it.

MegaLegs · 14/12/2007 12:20

x post great minds soapy

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 12:20

I can't pick up though. Otherwise i would give it a try.
Only have a small space for one too.

Have you no-one locally who would pick it up for you?

nutcracker · 14/12/2007 12:23

Cheapest I have seen is about £50 i think for brand new, that was in argos i think.

Tried ebay ?

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 12:23

Not really. Maybe one person but i don't like to keep asking her for help.

JodieG1 · 14/12/2007 12:23

What about ebay?

MegaLegs · 14/12/2007 12:24

Try it though, sometimes people are so desperate to get rid of an old table they'll even deliver it.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 12:24

Yes tried Ebay. Nothing local. Thats the cheapest one i found!

MrsDandOllie · 14/12/2007 12:25

Or pay the friend £20 to help you pick one up off freecycle! Its still cheaper than you'll get one anywhere else!

Surfermum · 14/12/2007 12:26

What about a decorating table?

B&Q

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 12:29

Would still need chairs though.
I think i will try freecycle. Better than doing nothing. Just want me and the dc to have somewhere to eat for a change.

Do you live near Ikea?

Get a taxi back with your purchases?

They have stools for £2.50 and very cheap tables

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 12:50

Nope no Ikea near by.
Wish i had thought about this ages ago and put some money aside!

freecycle I asked and got fab teak G plan extender!

yorkishbirdy · 14/12/2007 12:58

Post a freecycle, say you don't mind what condition etc that you just want a table for chritmas and explain you don't ahve a car. I have found most people on freecycle to be very helpful and willng to go that extra mile in a push if they can!

Hope you get something sorted out!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 12:59

Thanks everyone.
Have sent a message for Freecycle. Really don't hold out much hope but its worth a try.

sure there is no one who could collect?

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 14/12/2007 13:16

ooh really? Do you think a courier would be possible? I know there are some on Ebay but i guess packaging would be tricky.
I think you are too far for me to ask someone to pick up.

OP posts:
mufti · 14/12/2007 13:22

would you give more of an idea where you are , eg nearest town?
