Plus One is more stylish but if its only going to be stuck in a spare room and slept on by visitors I'd go for the Hypnos thing. The Plus One looks like it might come apart from the main bed in the middle of the night.

cas73 · 09/11/2004 19:06

Well, the plus one bed looks more like a bed... I'd get the +1 bed. Don't really like divans...

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:07

Hmm am desperate to find someone who has one
also my dad is 6' 2" so inf the very rare evnt he slept there ( he lives 5 mins away!) I suppose he would be uncomfy....

think also though ont eh plus one I could put he spare bed bit in our room for eg

Depends on your most frequent guests too I suppose. The plus one bed seems quite flexible.

When we moved we decided that the best solution was just to get a double bed. It doesn't take up that much more space than a single, and you get to use the storage space under the bed too.

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:08

ph and no its for ds1 s room

Personally would prefer the Plus One, assuming it is mainly going to be used as a single. We sleep on one like the Hypnos at my mums. It is made into a double by using a larger fitted sheet - on that I doubt there is much difference between the two.

Would you get the +1 under bed AND top bed? Or only the under bed? If the choice is the Hypnos or the under bed only, I would go for the Hypnos (and you could still move the extra bed to other rooms occassionaly).
If you are thinking of putting it under your bed, have you made sure it fits? They can be quite tall..

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:11

no iw ould be the hypnos OR the plus one with under bed. ds1s bionicles will be rehoused!

check out the M&S hideaway beds .. we have one of those and its really comfortable with 2 proper mattresses ..its about £600 though

(we also have a cheaper divan version which was about £300 and I wish to God I'd never skimped on getting another M&S one cos the mattresses are rubbish )

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:12

but ar ethose matresses ont he flor though?

OP posts:
Twiglett · 09/11/2004 19:14

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:14

are those bed low down though?

OP posts:
Twiglett · 09/11/2004 19:14

no they work as a single, 2 singles or a double .. the bottom bed springs up with no effort and is really stable and it puts itself away easily too .. it really is a cracking bed

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:15

hey twog your link is pants

OP posts:
Twiglett · 09/11/2004 19:16

maybe this link works?

LIZS · 09/11/2004 19:23

It is not bad - the "top" mattress is more comfy than the "lower" one and also wider - and for our occasional use it is fine . My mum's probably isn't as expensive a model as that one though so would imagine like most beds you get what you pay for in terms of springing and comfort. You could use one independently of the other.

Looking at the pics again I'd be even more inclined to go for the Plus One though. You don't get the benefits of a divan with the Hypnos style because it can't utilise any springing in the base. The other one is designed with a mattress and proper slatted base so would probably function better as a regular single for ds1.

codswallop · 09/11/2004 19:33

aha now i hadn htought of that so the underneath int he hypnos is just divan matress with no base>
