What games have gone down well with your 3 year old ? DD will be almost 3 at christmas and I'd like to suggest to someone to get her a couple of games (ideally ones that might appeal to adults too if such a thing exists to keep the ILs quiet on christmas day).

Thanks

Honey Bee Tree from ELC (like KerPlunk)

Monkey Business/Tumbling Monkeys -magnetic thing where you take it in turns to hang monkeys from the tree without toppling it

Pop Up Dragon -ELC

BettySpaghetti · 06/11/2007 18:07

although they're not "board" games if thats what you're after?

sorry - yes that sort of thing is fine ... I meant 'game you can play with more than one person' but board game sounded catchier .

Thanks will have a peek at those.

Thanks jura - I had seen the orchard games and they looked quite good... will have a peak at that one

(PS - Have been meaning to send you an email to report back on our further meeting yesterday at the school. Think we may have met your DS).

Can also recommend Shopping List.

Alpha Animals is also good - can be challenging at that age, but is a good one to play together, especially as you have to make animal noises!

Cariboo is lovely and so exciting when the treasure chest opens

and my favourite is Tummy Ache which is by Orchard doodah I think

northender · 06/11/2007 18:16

I'd second Tummy Ache Franny. It is by Orchard. My dd is just 3 this month and she will happily sit and play it with us.

FrannyandZooey · 06/11/2007 18:17

oh and we also like Soundtracks where you have to listen to a tape of noises and indentify what the sounds are, that is lots of fun

I got a nursery rhyme version from Mothercare a few years ago, not sure if they still do it?

BettySpaghetti · 06/11/2007 18:17

oooh I've bought Shopping List for DS for Christmas so I'm glad to see it recommended here

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 06/11/2007 18:19

oh yeah, my ds LOVES Cariboo. He also likes the Dora the Explorer board game (great as it doesnt takes too long!) and Insey Wincey Spider (Orchard Toys) is good too.

FrannyandZooey · 06/11/2007 18:20

I second Incy Wincy, one of the first games with a dice ds could understand. Very simple and nice

Wheelybug · 06/11/2007 18:21

ooh thank you everyone... will have a look at all of these

Walk the Plank by Orchard Toys.

Also Hungry Hippos is a good game for Xmas Day - if you can stand the noise..........

LIZS · 06/11/2007 18:24

House that Jack built (we had a Bob the Builder version), Orchard Toys games like Spotty Dogs, Ravensburger games like Snails' Pace Race and Funny Bunny and their memory games

hattiejacques · 06/11/2007 18:26

My ds loves manic martians from elc and humpty dumpty by orchard. Elc do some really good and cheap ones for little ones. My other ds used to play pairs for hours on end.

Ok I think Shopping list will make the cut (but only if they do it in Latin too !) and probably a couple of others....

We quite liked playing the Orchard Spotty Dog game with my DD when she was 3.

oooggs · 06/11/2007 19:58

Orchard Toys - Chicken Out
Tumbling Monkeys
Picky pairs (with character cards)
Thomas Round the Rails
Jenga
Picture Dominos

HappyMummyOfOne · 06/11/2007 21:01

Orchard games are great, incy wincy, tummy ache and the shopping game are fab. If you buy from orchard direct i think its free shipping over £15.
