This will horrify you but I want to buy a nice nativity crib scene thing...

Sorry to be so appalling with my timing.

I've just had the thought that I want to buy my sister a lovely nativity set as a present. She's having a baby and I think it's a lovely thing to have when you have children but you might not buy one for yourself. Her birthday is just before christmas so that was my thought.

I have a lovely crib set with lovely little china figures and I'm really looking forward to setting it up with my girl (on a really, really high shelf ). I've had a quick google but can only find naff ones. Any suggestions for websites where I might find something lovely?

Its not naff at all !! I love our nativity set. I saw a really sweet one in the lakeland catalogue which is a combi nativity scene and advent box

I was going to suggest a fairtrade shop.

Or Oxfam.

hotcrossbunny · 28/09/2007 14:54

Great Little Trading Company has a nice wooden one.

dustystar · 28/09/2007 14:55

There are some lovely ones about. I bought a soft material one when dd was born so that it could be put where she could reach it. She is now 8 and ds is 7 but they still like to rearrange the figures.

dustystar · 28/09/2007 14:56

If the is a Christain bookshop near you I expect they'll have a selection. The one in Bournemouth has about 20 to choose from.

Cappuccino · 28/09/2007 14:57

come on, come on

you know you want to knit one

Anna8888 · 28/09/2007 14:57

There are religious shops that sell lovely, tasteful nativity sets around the Place Saint-Sulpice in Paris.

Otherwise my sister said there were nice ones in Spain where she used to live.

lilibet · 28/09/2007 15:01

if I had money...............

Very elegant and simple

WaynettaVonSlob · 28/09/2007 15:05

Cappucino - PMSL at that....and then I looked at the Tradecraftshop site, and they have a crochet one!!!!

Slubberdegullion · 28/09/2007 15:15

I'm off to the Cologne Christmas markets to buy one this year. Booked the flights today. The Germans do beautiful woodenny things.

That is obviously a blatant brag and not helpful to you at all margo, unless you're loaded and can afford a trip across to Germany (EasyJet v reasonable to Cologne imo)

Sunshinemummy · 28/09/2007 15:29

I also love my nativity. It's wooden and I think you can get them from charity catalogues. It reminds me of one my lovely grandma had when I was little.

WaynettaVonSlob · 28/09/2007 15:31

Just found this it has nice stuff.......

tissy · 28/09/2007 15:35

Adding to my watched threads with interest but can't bear to think about Christmas yet.

harpsichordcarrier · 28/09/2007 15:42

i am not horrified
I quite fancy one for Christmas if I can find a lovely and I am an atheist but then again I have lots of picture of Father Christmas and his elves and I am pretty sure they don't exist either

Desiderata · 28/09/2007 15:51
