This will horrify you but I want to buy a nice nativity crib scene thing...

Sorry to be so appalling with my timing.

I've just had the thought that I want to buy my sister a lovely nativity set as a present. She's having a baby and I think it's a lovely thing to have when you have children but you might not buy one for yourself. Her birthday is just before christmas so that was my thought.

I have a lovely crib set with lovely little china figures and I'm really looking forward to setting it up with my girl (on a really, really high shelf ). I've had a quick google but can only find naff ones. Any suggestions for websites where I might find something lovely?

Wow. Mumsnet's intimate knowledge of mail order nativity scenes is really incredible!

I love all these. The Willow Tree one is lovely -but looks quite big? Anyone know?

And I love the knitted one! I cannot knit but honestly...am thinking of learning!

Oh, wish I was going to a lovely Cologne Christmas Market....

Thanks all - will browse all evening.

Having knitted hundreds of squares 30 years ago as a brownie I have forgotten how to! Try ebay for hand-knitted ones - spotted a couple already.

If you put "krippenfiguren" into google.de you'll find lots of lovely German ones.

I love the olive wood one in the Lakeland catalogue but IIRC it's expensive

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 04/10/2007 11:59

£90

The Advent Stable one Mapleleaf mentioned is lovely too and there's a cheaper chunky one that's nice too.

Probably not very helpful unless you have access to a French supermarket but a couple of years ago, I bought my dd an Advent Calender which had the Nativity scene inside it. Every few days it had a sheep or shepherd, or something in there. Mind it had to be reinforced with sellotape since the outline was only made from card . The figures were china though so I've hung onto them.
