My ds is going to be nearly 3 at Christmas and we are thinking of getting him a pirate ship ... I was originally thinking of an ELC wooden one but saw some of the playmobil pirate stuff on ebay and wondered whether it would be better?

hi there

My Dd is 4 now (3 last xmas) and she got the noahs ark - Never really played with it.
I think it seems to attract the older kids. and really small bits too - Does he put bits in his mouth?

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:04

He isnt too bad with things in his mouth - famous last words probably though!

yes prefect
any later and its too late ime

belgo · 27/09/2007 21:06

Get the playmobil one. You can hide the tiny bits away - they'll only get sucked up in the hoover anyway.

jeangenie · 27/09/2007 21:06

playmobil ROCKS both my 5 yo and my 2.5yo (and every friend of either of theirs that passes through the door) absolutely love it
I'd get it in preference to the wooden one any day (and I like wooden toys)

NorthernRockCod · 27/09/2007 21:07

yes we glued beards and feathers and really small stuff on so we didn tlose it

madamez · 27/09/2007 21:07

DS got a couple of playmobil figures for his 3rd birthday this week and I have smuggled them into the stockroom and hidden them. I am not spending the next 6 months of my life hunting for the pirate captain's candlestick/sextant/wooden leg.

aDad · 27/09/2007 21:07

yes go for it

and it will last

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:08

so a resounding yes then! are there any different playmobil things that anyone can recommend in that case?

NannyL · 27/09/2007 21:12

yes

it will be played with for a lot younger than oterh stuff that they seem to grow out of soo quickly!

Lorayn · 27/09/2007 21:14

definitely, my DS is 3 in december and absolutely adores it!!!

jeangenie · 27/09/2007 21:16

we have farm, beach, caravan and various other bits and bobs
farm is VERY popular these days
DD1 even made an animated movie with them all last year - is FAB

belgo · 27/09/2007 21:16

there's tons of stuff on the website www.playmobil.com

NorthernRockCod · 27/09/2007 21:18

we have

pirate ship
safari lodge
buthcers
supermarket
plane
crane
bin truc( very pop)
police car
bagage scanning hting and security arch
boy on bike
garden centre

i liek to set up scenarios wher all these world collide

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:20

he loves animals and has a little people farm and zoo which he still plays with so thought I would try something different. He is just starting to show an interest in pirates so figured I might give it a go.

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:21

safari lodge sounds cool, cod. Might see if that is still current.

we have an ambulance car that ds adores, the seats go down on the back and it has a doctor and flashing lights, he also loved his police motorbike but not sure where it is.
Currently building and rebuilding his garage though

fortyplus · 27/09/2007 21:22

There's a junior version of Playmobil that's suitable for under 3s. I'd start with that - it looks nearly the same but no tiny bits. There's probably a link somewhere...

NorthernRockCod · 27/09/2007 21:23

i gt it online
tis like a diego hideout

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:23

thanks!

Here you go...
www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-GB-Site/en_GB/Link-Category?catalog=STOREFRONT_GB&name=1% 2e2%2e3

fortyplus · 27/09/2007 21:27

By the way, we had...

Crane
Dumper truck
Fire Engine
Camping set
Tractors
Police cars
Roadworks
Pirate Ship
Desert island
Cowboys & Indians
Knights
Dozens and dozens of figures...

Started when ds1 was 3 and only managed to persuade them to get rid of it all when he was 11 and ds2 was 10! So excellent value imo.

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:27

cod that sounds perfect .. he has just started watching diego and loves it! I am hoping it will replace his dora fetish ... on a separate note advice needed on the style thread if you feel like it (I think I used to know you in rl by the way!)

OP posts:
fortyplus · 27/09/2007 21:28

Oh... forgot the killer whale, the dolphin, scuba divers... they all spent years in the bathroom - very uncomfortable if you sit on one!

ImNotInterestedInYourKids · 27/09/2007 21:28

oh GOD please not.
