Is playmobil suitable for a nearly 3 year old?

My ds is going to be nearly 3 at Christmas and we are thinking of getting him a pirate ship ... I was originally thinking of an ELC wooden one but saw some of the playmobil pirate stuff on ebay and wondered whether it would be better?

thanks everyone ... Im going to take a look at the playmobil web site but the pirate ship and the safari lodge both sound along the right lines

too embarrassed to list what my 3 have, loads of stuff. Favourites are the recycling bin wagon, police motorcycles, rescue helicopter.

Remove all the little bits, like guns, that they will want to use when older, and a bit of judicious supergluing of other fiddly bits.

DS1 is getting romans for his 6th birthday.

definitely - my ds still plays with it and he's 8 - the castle has been a firm favourite - but generally its the people - he builds up these scenarios and imaginative games

bodiddly · 27/09/2007 21:39

I am tempted by the castle but my mum has got him a second hand wooden castle from ebay for his birthday/christmas ....

...forget the wooden castle the playmobil one is just amazing for playmobil lovers - be prepared to spend a day building it youself though - buy big plastic see through tubs with lids and dump all the playmobil in there -

its no good trying to keep it together or even in individual tubs for each set - they love rummaging around in it and make up there own things in any case -

can't way that any of ds's friends have been into it as much as he has though...BUT its far more preferable to the PS2

..oh and just bought dd (5) the girlie caslte since she loves it too now...

playmobil have a range for younger children.

dd is 3,5 and she plays with it, but she cant really handle the small bits as well as the older children.
