Waitrose have just started delivering here. Never been in their store as nearest 20 miles away. What MUST we try?

They do lovely fruit juice frozen lollies.

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2007 16:12

I love Waitrose - never had my shopping delivered but often shop in one about 5 miles away...
I always buy their own brand anchovies
recycled kitchen rolls
their own white tissues
vanilla and camomile shower gel
organic body lotion
Actually, the nice bit is just going in and choosing stuff !

ptangyangkipperbang · 14/07/2007 16:15

I'm ridiculously excited because so many mumsnetters speak about Waitrose in glowing terms.

I like their double pack of rubber gloves, lemon scented
(I am so sad)

Mercy · 14/07/2007 16:22

Organic burgers

Some of their ready-meals are very good (if you are into ready-meals that is!)

bran · 14/07/2007 16:25

Their Fresh Vanilla Custard is gorgeous, and they do reasonably good fruit pies (apple/rhubarb etc).

Mercy · 14/07/2007 16:27

Oh yes, teh desserts!

I hardly ever eat desserts but on the rare occasion we shop at Waitrose we always come home with several.

OldieMum · 14/07/2007 16:53

high quality meat - esp the organic free range meat

ditto the cooked meat, especially ham, cooked sausage etc

excellent fresh fish counter (which you can order from over the net)

huge range of cheeses

v. good wine

posh biscuits, chocolate and ice cream

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2007 16:57

fab stem ginger cookies which are brilliant as a cheesecake base !!

snowleopard · 14/07/2007 16:59

Waitrose arrived here in scotland last year and it really was one of the most exciting things ever

I'd say try their apricot tart
Delicious free-range ham
Own-brand ice-creams - yummmmmm
Really nice breads
The toiletries are great too - lovely bubble baths, baby stuff etc.

Ooooooh have fun!

ptangyangkipperbang · 14/07/2007 17:05

I'm getting even more excited!

There is a code to get 15% off the first order and the minimum spend to get the discount is £90 so am trying to convince myself that it is good value. Haven't been out with DH for ages so am going to spend the money we've saved on an indulgent shop.

BettySpaghetti · 14/07/2007 17:20

They do lovely roasted peppers marinaded in chilli/herb oil -gorgeous added to salads

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/07/2007 17:26

...and the seafood salad is yum as well as artichoke hearts in oil

snowleopard · 15/07/2007 15:41

£90 is worth it for your first big shop and getting a discount! And £90 worth of Waitroceries - that will keep you going for all of .... oh, 2 1/2 days

No seriously, I think if you are going to enjoy it that much, it is worth it and better than a big night out IMHO

mozhe · 15/07/2007 15:59

..one of the down sides to living in France...no Waitrose
Auchan just doesn't do it for me...

TheDuchessDeMimsyNorkington · 15/07/2007 16:10

Sorbets. Pizzeria pizzas. Organic frozen pizza. Organic burgers. Dauphinoise potatoes - part of their posh ready meal range. Creamy coleslaw. Cumberland sausages. Organic lamb is good (admits bias on the lamb as my friends are suppliers). Belgian chocolate.

At the moment they have locally sourced strawberries - they are sensational. And given that both of my local farmers markets have shut, it's some compensation.

francagoestohollywood · 15/07/2007 16:15

Mohze, shame on you! You shouldn't go to supermarkets in France...

bigmouthstrikesagain · 15/07/2007 16:26

The own brand tiramisu is fantastic.

They stock a good range of ready meals for when you really cannae be arsed to cook.

Great organic wine range.

I love em!

But I am biased as they just took £50 of my shopping bill cos they were unable to supply a couple of items. Class.
