Thoughts have turned to DD's bedroom. We're buying her first 'big girl' bed next month along with some new cupboards and stuff (she's just turned 2), and I'd like the 'theme' in there to be butterflies.

Sooo, can you help me find some pretty curtains for her windows ? Ideally they'd be white and tab-top with coloured (hopefully embroidered) butterflies on them.

Cheers !!

Found them , but they aren't white. They have some nice bits you could use though.

Ooh, spooky NDP, my dd has just turned two as well and her bedroom has a butterfly theme. I got a pair of hot pink coloured gingham tab top curtains from John Lewis which match a lovely duvet set (also JL) which has butterflies appliqued all over. I would recommend going there to have a look. I also got a pink voile lampshade which is beaded with butterflies on from Blooming Marvellous. I am sure BM do other accessories with butterflies also. HTH and I hope she likes it .

Don't Laura Ashley do a butterfly theme in their children's rooms?? Have to admit I'm a bit of a fan of their stuff....

poppyseed · 05/09/2004 22:33

Just peeped - yes they do, have a look at www.lauraashley.com

Thanks for these suggestions, keep 'em coming ! I'll be back to check out these links when DD has her nap. :)

Rosebys have some butterfly curtains in atm,

NomDePlume · 06/09/2004 09:31

Those lilac ones from Next are lovely, nutty. Definitely one for the shortlist

Hmmm, there was a Roseby's near here. Perhaps I'll venture out later and have a look, might as well get some paint tester pots too whilst I'm out.

ikea do some lovely curtains which are white voile with applique butterflies (and possibly dragonflies as well) - they are in the kids section

NomDePlume · 06/09/2004 09:43

YEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ! I think I've found the perfect thing , just have to try and find the proper curtains for it now.

Exactly what I had in mind !

Hope you aren't being sarky, Ms Twigg ?!

Mind you, it's pretty expensive for toddler's bedroom . Don't really want to spend £100 on a bed-set for her to practise going dry at nights in !

Lol, ok

It's more than I wanted to pay and they don't have any of the proper curtains left, so it's back to the drawing board for me... Bum

Any more suggestions ?

Sew butterflies onto plain curtains?

Ikea definitely had voile curtains with butterflies or dragon flies on as someone said. You could maybe hang these over the top of plain coloured curtains?

NomDePlume · 06/09/2004 13:03

REAL butterflies, Soupy ?!!!

I've seen the ones in Ikea, but they look like they got flies on them, not butterflies. Plus my local Ikea means a trek up the M5/M6 - arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !

They'd look realistic!
