RENAULT SCENIC II: Can two adults plus a child seat fit in the back?

Comfortably I mean. DD will be in her booster seat, with back. Then me and MIL.

Looking at this for car hire on holiday and trying to decide if big enough. Will use this car for the journeys we all make together so could be a fair distance at times.

i have agrand scenic

i have ds2 who is 6, and his sn car seat behind the drivers seat, and ds1 and dd2 next to him

dd1 sits in the front

yesterday i had an adult in my car as well, so dd1 was in the next row back along withds1 on his booster and they all fitted in comfortably.

dd1 is 5ft 10 btw so adult sized

You can but the middle seat is narrower than outside ones and the seatbelt comes down from the roof, which I've always felt is less secure than the outside which come out at shoulder height. You could get a Grand Scenic which is 7 seats and a little longer so one could go in the very back on outings and hold all your luggage comfortably if you put the rear ones down for the transfer(the 5 seater might be tight with 5 cases/bags)

Hulababy · 11/06/2007 21:00

The luggage isn't a problem as we will actually have two cars, so from airport just 3 of us plus luggage. This bigger car is for the journeys we all do together.

Yes, we have one and often have three people in the back. Not huge amounts of room and I wouldn't like to drive to Scotland in it (we live in Kent!) but perfectly fine for an hour or so.

lou33 · 11/06/2007 21:01

seatbelt comes down from the roof on the 7 seater grand scenic as well

i dont have any qualms about the safety aspect of this

LIZS · 11/06/2007 21:02

ah ok, then a Scenic should be fine. We regularly had 5 in ours (admittedly a mark 1) for mountain outings. I'd take the middle seat between the kids and it was fine.

Hulababy · 11/06/2007 21:04

We have the choice of:

RENAULT SCENIC II 1.5 DCI (5 seater)or similar for £358
or

OPEL ZAFIRA 1.9 CDTI 120 CH (7 seater) or similar for £463

So day trip journey lengths not too bad? Not sure on distances but with heavy traffic could be 2-3 hours ata time I guess.

Will end up being me and MIl in the back, with DD.

I just want it to be enough room, but at lowest cost. I am not exactly stick thin (lol) and MIL isn't neither. But am hoping this one will be ok.

LOL fio - hopefully not too many compartments to lose stuff in. It's only for two weeks!

Boot space not really a problem as stated earlier - we have two cars coming from/going to the airport. Rest of time just day trip bags, no pushchair.

Hulababy · 11/06/2007 21:11

Ah that make smore sense now Fio!

god yes the storage is great

also i love the fact it has controls on the wheel for the cd player, and the key card instead of a normal key, and the automatic parking brake

in fact i just love my car full stop

also if i have only 5 seats up as i normally do, i have masses of boot space for the wheelchair and anything else i fancy chuckingin the back

even with 6 seats up i have enough room for the chair and a couple of bags of kiddie crap
