Clarks shoes with a dolly hidden in the heel - WHY?

Obviously my DD's wanted these ones yesterday in Clarks, even though they weren't the best looking shoe or even the best fit.

OMg do those shoes squeak..my mum bought some of them for DD1 but they are too big at the min

On their homepage they try to justify the squeak by saying

"Security: You will now always know where your little one is, let them explore, the squeak will tell you where they are - great for shopping malls and busy places.
They are invaluable for visually impaired children to become more confident in learning to walk and motivate babies with mobility difficulties to move and explore and have fun doing so. "

My DS has mobility issues and they might get him walking but they'd still be flippin' annoying.

Think that pair of shoes was responsible for the start of my shoe appreciation habit!

Those shoes that squeak have been popular in Asia for a few years. Was v. thankful when I had DS that you can't get them here. Still haven't figured out why anyone thought children's shoes needed lights.
