janh, queen of internet shopping, can you please help with jute/wicker storage?

i've been to all the obvious sites (it has taken practically the whole evening - gah!), have found a set of three wicker boxes at argos, and some jute soft boxes at blooming marvellous... but am very unimpressed with the choice... just hoping you may have the perfect source up your sleeve!

thanks in advance, i have gone nesting crazy!

Ah, but what price for not having to go into an IKEA store?!

SoupDragon · 14/07/2004 11:33

I love Ikea!

sis · 14/07/2004 14:18

I am speechless!

serenequeen · 14/07/2004 15:50

thanks, sis, yes i would do much to avoid a trip to ikea!

soupie, you're down the road from the Golden Purley Way, aren't you? we are in south/inner london and it's a toss up between Ikea in Croydon or the delightful Brent Park for us - either way it takes at least an hour to drive. and when you get there...

mind you we are usually forced to go at w/es...

however, df lives a mere 15min drive away and has agreed to go and pick up some of the branas ones for me! hooray! they will do the kitchen spaces and we will risk cotswoldco for the others we need which don't have to conform to such specific dimensions!

so, thanks very much, everyone once again mumnset comes up trumps!

btw - janh, that abcaz site is fantastic, i've been using it for a few other things since you posted it...

You have to pick your time for that perfect Ikea experience and it has to be said that weekends are not the right time!

Not Janh, but there are lots of baskets here - all sorts of shapes colours and sizes! HTH

Janh · 15/07/2004 13:50

Thanks for the headsup, bksq! Feel v proud!

Suedonim beat me to it with the Cotswold Co, it's the first place I thought of too. Are the baskets in those 6 pages (SIX PAGES OF BASKETS???? GOOD GRIEF!) any good or should I go on a mission for you?

suedonim · 15/07/2004 17:47

Yeah, that's what I thought, Janh - six PAGES??? How sad am I, for knowing of that website?!?

serenequeen · 17/07/2004 09:29

oh thank you, suedonim and janh!

did try to look at cotswold co the other night, but couldn't get into site for some reason... what a marvellous choice, i've seen quite a few there we could use!

if you could bear it, i would be very grateful for some other choices though, because i've got two particular spaces to fill in the kitchen and none of the cotswold baskets are the right size. how sad is that???

thank you both very much

anyone else who is not janh and can advise, don't be shy .

lonelymumof3 · 17/07/2004 11:20

what size and colour are you looking for?

Janh · 17/07/2004 12:13

sq, have a trawl through abcaz , which is a shopping search engine (?) like kelkoo (only kelkoo is crap for baskets - has about 3 and then turns to fridges???)

After you wade through all the Cotswold Co, and the few bits from JL and Argos, there are quite a few others, some of which I've never heard of like Lom Bok and Oka Direct. There are a lot of pages so you might be lucky...! House of Bath looks possible - is fairly Cotswoldy but may have different sizes. (No search facility though so more wading required.)

Good luck!!!

Janh · 17/07/2004 12:19

Ah - House of Bath does have a search (it's blue so I didn't see it) (?) but am finding that whatever I put in it keeps coming up with the set of 4 baskets I first looked at. Very odd!

sleeplessmum2be · 18/07/2004 10:19

spicersofhythe.co.uk have a sale on at the moment and unless i am not getting it they seem good value.

serenequeen · 18/07/2004 11:22

thank you, janh, i will have a look at those now

lmof3 - how sad am i? these are the dimensions -
H=35cm, W=33cm, D=33cm. colour - anything from pale to medium honey colour i suppose - nothing too orangey.

A word of warning -- my experience of the Cotswold company (three orders) is that their customer service plumbed new depths of appallingness, and I have read posts here and elsewhere suggesting that other people's experiences have been similar.

Personally, I wouldn't use them again if they were the last furniture company on earth.

The Holding Company on the other hand, I've had v. good experiences with.
