Anyone got a Mini Cooper S?

I fancy one, as I really don't like my Smart ForFour especially after all the trouble we have had with it. Not thinking of buying straight away regardless but interested in what others think of them? Are they a good drive? What extras did you get on it - were they worth it?

My sis has one. It's a convertible and she loves it. My kids like to ride in it too .. they ask her 'can we have the tent down?!!'

we have ordered one Hula, very much looking forward to taking delivery. Its going to be my little toy for when I dont want to be looking down on people

You really should test drive them - we borrowed one for a day it was great

Hulababy · 26/02/2007 22:07

I know, I know! But I really don't like this Smart ForFour - every since we had it break down and Smart were so bad regards customer serice, it has really put me off. Furious with Smart and I am not impressed with the ForFour at all - not just the clutch issue, but there other little niggles.

DH may get a company car if he takes this new job. If that happens I could get rid of the Smart and the Aygo (which DH had for work, as he only works locally in the city at moment) and spend more on one car.

jampot - that is the next step - ut be warned not to test drive till we are ready to buy, as once we drive it we will definitely want one!

is this the one with a vase on the dashboard?

jampot · 26/02/2007 22:10

coddy - i heard that too but as i am a fat pre-menopausal woman I felt I qualified.

hula - you really must buy one whether dh gets acompany car or not

Hulababy · 26/02/2007 22:11

oliveoil - no that is a VW Beetle. Had one of those already. Was very uneconomical regards fuel! Not good when I was doing an 80 mile round trip for work.

Well I am not overly big - not quite fat anyway; no menopausal in any way shape or form, and not middle age yet - so.... maybe I will buck the trend!

I have a Cooper. It's fab but the boot is tiny

Grips the road like you wouldn't believe.

jampot · 26/02/2007 22:15

isnt the phrase "like shit to a blanket" NB?

Hulababy · 26/02/2007 22:15

Is it the old or new version? Newer one has a slightly bigger boot. It won't be the only car we have and I don't have a baby/toddler - so don't need to have massive boot for buggy, etc.

My friend has a yellow one. She is 29, brunette and pretty.
No where near middle aged and fat.
But not very good on fuel apparently.

Gingerbear · 26/02/2007 22:16

lol jammy 'shit to a blanket' must remember that one.

Gingerbear · 26/02/2007 22:17

I once had a renault 5 that was like shit off a shovel, but I digress.

NadineBaggott · 26/02/2007 22:17

Thank you jampot much more descriptive

hula it's an 06 but yeah it's the old style, the new ones don't have the headlights in the bonnet either

Hulababy · 26/02/2007 22:17

Fuel bit won't be so much of a problem either if DH takes this new job, as I won't be working in same place or as often as I currently do.

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 26/02/2007 22:18

just realised my first post implied that my friend was not very good on fuel

NadineBaggott · 26/02/2007 22:18

oh I love Renault 5's I think if I could have bought GT I might have been tempted to get a 5 over the mini

NadineBaggott · 26/02/2007 22:19

mine's quite good on fuel - seems to last a long time anyway!

Gingerbear · 26/02/2007 22:19

Nadine - mine was a GT.
Oh I lurrved that car.

breadgirl · 26/02/2007 22:22

Sounds like you should get it!!
You don't need it for kids, but i can fit my maxi-cosi in for my dd2
BTW, my sis isn't middle aged, and she's got a 22" waist

NadineBaggott · 26/02/2007 22:23

yeah we had a little Le Car2 years ago, I was in love with that
