It has got to be good quality and not too dear. Please help as I am trying to do up ds's room and am a bit stuck. Oh, also no character ones. Don't ask for much do I?

Have you tried Next? They normally have some nice ones.

Colours - blue probably on walls but not really sure about a theme as just wanted it boyish really so it could grow with him IYSWIM.

Have looked at next but have had two sets from there now and both have been quite poor in terms of quality.

Will look at other thread, ta.

I got ds a lovely blue one from Debenhams in the sale.....quality is excellent and he loves it. It is blue but has little cars on it. It washes well and will last him for a long time. I dont like character ones either as they change their minds so often. My Mum has just bought him one with dinosaurs on. I havent seen it yet as she is coming over in July and will bring it then. Verbaudet do interesting ones too.

Debenhams have big sales on at the moment too, on bedding and towels. Might be worth a look.

Collision, is your debenhams one a John Rocha one like here ?

I was looking at that one the other day and thought it might be nice.

Just got a nice one from Mothercare, pale blue with cars etc on. And they do reversible ones in two shades of plain blue.

There are some nice looking ones here especially the Tyrell Katz - bit pricey though and not sure how gltc are delivery wise these days. Have you tried Woolworths as I'm sure they had some nice ones last time we were over.

Should have added that we bought ds' from House of Fraser about 3 1/2 years ago. Jungle Animals with yellow background one side and blue the other. Washes like a dream, no ironing, and at the time they did all sorts of other bits to match.

LIZS that is the exact one that ds himself pointed to in the shop yesterday! (mainly 'cos it had cars) I wasn't sure because of the gingham though. Other than that it is more or less what I'm after. DH didn't like the dinosaur one so that's out. DD is having the pink gingham one I think (yes I'm doing two children's rooms at once!) which was really lovely.

No, it's not coddy and I like that one but ds doesn't . I am regretting saying that he could help choose.

Try The White Company - thewhitecompany.co.uk - they have simple white duvet covers with gingham borders and a sailboat design. I couldn't get the link to work on this message - sorry.

Those jlp ones are fab, really like that sailing on Coddy. I agree with others character ones are horrid. Have had real trouble in this area myself. Got DS1 some nice ones at JLP but about 3 yrs ago, in sale i think, have failed to find anything else nice since. Ended up getting DD a "grown-up" one from there but at least simple and nice. But need another one really - want to avoid too much PINK. And will need some for DS2 soon. Think JLP must have improved their range. Do think £30 is about top whack tho.

I bought ds a lovely duvet set and throwover from Dunelm. They are appliqued and embroided with a space theme on them. They had other themes but they are gorgeous and really good value for money

How funny, DS has both the John Lewis ones that LIZS (gingham with cars) and codswallop (boats) pointed out - they both look really nice. The only thing that annoys me is that they are polycotton, but hey, they don't need ironing.

Azure, how old is your ds? does he like his bedding? Am really leaning towards that one now but worried that ds will hate it this time next year and I'll have to search again.

Had already looked at additions ones but may be a bit busy when room is cluttered with toys. Couldn't do White Company stuff (though it is nice) as it would be filthy in minutes with ds bouncing up and down on it .

DS is 2.9, so rather younger than your DS. To be honest he hasn't expressed a preference one way or another, rather than liking the car and the boats etc. I can't see what will make him not like them IYSWIM, but who can tell with children? I'm hoping to get quite a few years' worth of use out of them. We now need to redecorate the rest of his room - he still has Regency stripe wallpaper and a rather floral curtain with pelmet from when we moved in. I'm also tempted to paint the walls blue. What curtains do you / will you have? Is matching curtains to duvet too much (although blue check would go nicely with the car cover)?

My Mum bought one for DS about Christmas time, he was 3.5 then. It's blue, with trucks and diggers on it and I think it came from Tesco. cost 9 quid including a matching pillow case, washes really well and is very good quality. A winner all round in our household

Will probably try to get plain uplighter and plain curtains in a shade of blue to match. JL had quite a good selection. I did the room with JL stuff last time but it is a really bright shade of orange at the mo with multi coloured stripes on one wall and bright cotbed bed linen from their nursery section which I really still like but is a bit babyish now. Cotbed has fallen apart too so we need to buy new beds too .
