It has got to be good quality and not too dear. Please help as I am trying to do up ds's room and am a bit stuck. Oh, also no character ones. Don't ask for much do I?

have you thought about making one? It's really quite easy, just straight sewing on three sides and you could either use velcro or buttons or snaps to close. JL do some really nice fabrics or check your local markets - I've done a couple for DD's duvet - depending on the fabric you buy it can work out a bit cheaper.

Do you have a sewing machine?

MIL has offered to make before as I don't sew so I will bare in mind if I can't fint anything I like. Think I will go and have another look at the John Lewis one next time I'm passing, and perhaps visit Tesco on the way too. Thanks everyone!

Bagpuss, have a look in Asda and Matalan too. Both do bright non-character kids' covers with matching curtains - Matalan usually have some accoessories too, and IME their fabrics are nicer than Asda's (cost a bit more but Asda's are only a fiver for a duvet cover set!)

I really like the White Company bedding - plain, good quality and no characters. (sorry can't post a link - too technophobic).

We had the "Le Pig" range when children were little,(got from a catalogue, or Debenhams did it, it's like a bright green almost hand painted looking backgound with sheep, ducks and pigs on, with a lightweight duvet cover (they do the curtains, lampshade, beanbag etc) this was about 6-7 years ago, but it's really nice and they do it in the smaller duvet size if you don't want a proper bed size.

Have you got a Dunelm near you? We've got a couple of really nice embroidered sets, one space rocket and one wizard, that were only about £20.
