If so, what car seat do you have? DH is desperate for an Audi TT, but I am not so sure DS will fit happily in the back.

Think that the dealers suggest you use the specially made Audi TT child reat ( funny that - more dosh )

Must get the car now - whilst DS is small enough .... DH had to change his as the kids were being squished in the back ( aged 8 and 10 !! )

Thanks crystaltips.

Anymore to add anyone?

We have an A4 convertible and I would say it is probably better than a TT - more room in the back for DD and definately less common (well at least where we live), the boot is big enough for DPs golf clubs or for DDs pushcahir (infact have had 3 pushchairs in there before) and they are lovely to drive!!

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 10:05

dd's godmother has one. I think their ds (about 14 months) has to go in the front and if there are two of them one of them goes in the back. God knows what they do with the buggy!

Boring little cars IMO, bit like the renault cli*.......

Furball · 25/05/2004 10:20

Not been funny CD but how can you compare this to This?

NONONO!!! You must know the old joke!

The Renault Clt, every Cnt's got one!!!

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 10:23

(I was kidding)

Furball · 25/05/2004 10:27

Haven't got one but would love one... have boring practical Discovery instead!

Twinkie · 25/05/2004 10:50

Furball - you shouldn't put a child in the front seat of a car no matter how securely it is harnessed into any car seat - the odds of it being seriously injured are greater than if it was in the back and I would not if I had the choice out a child ina 2 door car as I always get nervous thinking if there is a crash what is going to happen if they need to get the baby outr quickly - but then again I am paranoid!! (Oh and DD goes inthe back of DPs car if we have the roof off!!)

roisin · 25/05/2004 11:09

My brother has one, (and yes we are very jealous). My boys (5 and 6 - tall for their age) sit in the back, and are really comfy and fit snugly in - seem quite secure with the adult seatbelts. The difficulty is the headroom in the back - ds1 is nearly 7, but is very tall for his age, and he will soon struggle in there. Neither of them would fit with a booster seat now.

I certainly wouldn't put them in the front seat though ... far too scary

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 11:12

I have one of these and I find it very economical and spacious.

ghengis · 25/05/2004 11:14

Lol CD! Is that what you call a People Carrier?

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 11:15

It is in the Philippines!

Hulababy · 25/05/2004 11:19

We went to get one Furball when DD was first born but found the pushcahir and baby seat wouldn't fit. The second stage one does though - go for Isofix as it fits more snugly. There is limited boot and rear seat space though.

Like Twinke we had - until very recently - the Audi Cabriolet. Much more room and more boot space (can increase space if roof is up). Lovely car it was.

But again - still impractical we found and we have just sold it after a year of having it. We found that if the weather was hot we struggled to have roof down as the breeze meant DD was likely to burn within seconds - hat not easy to keep on as way breezier in back than front, and sun cream only works so far. If warm but breezy you are fine if in front, but rear passengers take all the wind and cold. We just found that it wasn't always practical enough sadly.

Now temporarily have a new Golf GTFSI and are waiting for the brand new Golf GTI to come out later this year to replace it with.

Beccarollover · 25/05/2004 11:32

OOooooo lovely cars on this thread...

I have just got a new (bought from DP's Mum) Renault Clt - I LOVE it as even though ever Cnt's got one its such an imporovement to the car I had before that

Maroon Astra L Reg LX!!! Had to get rid of it as DD kept getting burnt - no not from the convertible roof but engine overheating lol - it was such a fab car too, always got admiring glances

Beccarollover · 25/05/2004 11:33

Hula

what does GTFSI stand for? Sounds very involved!!??

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 11:33

My fave car ever was my hundred year old Vauxhall Nova complete with it's lovely top spec trim (fungus on the inside of the roof to you and me).

Beccarollover · 25/05/2004 11:38

CD - have I seen you on the back of Maxpower draped over that Nova?

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 11:42

In my new bra, yes!!!

Coddylicious · 25/05/2004 11:53

Id rather have air cont han a convertible any day.

did you know ore convertibles re sold in gloomy ld britain than in Europe? Prob because they dont want the hot suno on them

also is it a proven fact that theya re generally driven by ugly blokes?
Ont hat basis - dont do it?

we have done the prestige car thing and it has been nO end of hassle - but that , my little chip munks is another story

CountessDracula · 25/05/2004 11:55

Coddy would you prefer fungus to air con

Acutally I agree, air con is the best thing ever in cars

Beccarollover · 25/05/2004 11:56

On aformentioned Astra LX you had to have the heating on at all times and windows open to cool engine so yes go for air con!

Twinkie · 25/05/2004 12:01

Coddy I will have you know that DP is not an ugly bloke and he drives a convertible - he is a tall dark handsome Gooner!! GGGRRR!!!!

His air conditioning is not as good as mine though in my groovy T reg car!!

Coddylicious · 25/05/2004 12:02

teinkie I am sure he is not

he is an exception!
