I NEED fake treasure!

DS2 has requested fake treasure for Christmas. Easy peasy I thought, imagining plastic coins and large plastic gems. I've seen all that sort of stuff before....

aaagh! Can't find it anywhere I've got a beaded christmas garland which I'll de-bead as it has what looks like gems on it but it's not what I really had in mind.

fake gems in a haberdashery dept - john Lewis or somewhere like that? you can buy big plastic gems for sticking onto crowns or whatever - maybe try yellow moon catalogue or other craft stores?

cadeauxbury · 15/12/2006 13:07

chocolate coins look fairly authentic but I don't suppose they'd last long!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2006 13:07

From memory the Yellow Moon type ones were smaller and more stick-onable rather than put-in-a-chest treasure. Will have alook though.

Have to get it online now BTW as I am NOT venturing to a Real Shop again if I can help it.

Time to brave the local pound shop?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2006 13:08

Chocolate coins feetingly passed through my mind too

Hmm, maybe the yellow moon ones are too small, DD came home with huge gems stuck on a crown - about 2" across, but don't know where they came from. Not much use eh?!charity shop for srings of beads as treasure? elc for plastic coins - wads of money

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2006 13:12

I've seen these large gems - DS2 has come home from people's houses with them shoved in his pocket. Nive faceted whole gemstones IYSWIM.

It's so annoying! They must come from somewhere

PortAndLemonaid · 15/12/2006 13:17

Gold coins

Crowns (various)

Medallion

Bling King Ring...

PortAndLemonaid · 15/12/2006 13:29

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2006 14:23

Costume jewellery? Claire's is the only shop that springs to mind, but there must be lots of fake bling about at this time of the year. What about Oxfam shops, or similar?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2006 14:30

Claire's was disappointing really. They need to be chunky things. I think the problem is I have a image in my mind of exactly what I want and I can't find it!

Paperchase do stretchy jewels made of a kind of plasticy gel stuff.

SaintGeorge · 15/12/2006 18:16

These or these for coins

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2006 18:16

Oh bum - walked past Paperchase today and didn't think to look there (although I find the fell of those stertchy things a bit yucky )
