I can't find anyone that will guarantee Christmas delivery, anyone got any bright ideas?

It's not even released until 8th December and yet seems to have sold out on pre orders alone. Any bright ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, its completely sold out on pre-orders. You had to have ordered about mid Oct to get one

zippitippitoes · 28/11/2006 19:41

no think they are all taken

though you could try putting a nmae on a list somewhere

geekgrrl · 28/11/2006 19:42

gosh no! Amazon sold out in 7 minutes (1 to us[smug grin])

Guess you could try camping outside Game, sorry.

StrawberryMoon · 28/11/2006 19:46

Flamesparrow · 28/11/2006 19:47

£180 upwards I think

StrawberryMoon · 28/11/2006 19:48

..def not on dp's xmas list then !

Huw · 28/11/2006 19:50

why did they think wee was a good name

Alan · 28/11/2006 19:51

woolies were guarenteeing it late last week
not sure about now

serenity · 28/11/2006 19:55

My sister ordered one for the DSs (joint pressie for both from both her and my Mum) back in October - I don't think you've got any chance. DHs Nintendo magazine actually had an article in this month about the fact that the preorders had sold out already. Asked Dh and he said there's bound to be someone somewhere doing it, but imagine it'll be pricey.

Why it's called Wii (rather than the revolution, which was far cooler!)

To quote from their website....'Introducing? Wii.

As in "we."

While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.

Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.

Wii will put people more in touch with their games? and each other. But you?re probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasises this console is for everyone.

Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.'

God, PR people talk a load of bollocks. don't they

Huw · 28/11/2006 20:03

well i think it's a silly name

and if i hadn't read how to pronounce it i'd think it was why ay named by geordies

TwoToTango · 28/11/2006 20:12

Try argos

WideWebWitch · 28/11/2006 21:36

I've got one! (I think I have anyway) Argos had a second stock allocation. Well, they've taken our money anyway so we shall see if it gets delivered. Wii is a bloody stupid name if you ask me. Anyway, this is ds's main present and is from me/dh/ex dh and I guess if it doesn't turn up or they refund us then he can just have something much much cheaper (I wouldn't normally spend this much tbh).

Dh managed to order one in Woolies in St Albans last Sunday for delivery on the 8th of Dec.

Flamesparrow · 29/11/2006 07:26

Wow! I'm impressed you got one I prefer the name Wii to things like "PS2" and "Xbox360" (mainly cos its short) - do like the Geordie comment though

housemum · 06/12/2006 16:20

Sorry to butt in here! (Actually I'm not, I usually drop in uninvited but there you go... )

We have a Wii on order from Woollies so are confident as you can be that we'll get one for Xmas. What is REALLY bugging me though is the sods on eBay profitting by selling on the ones they pre-ordered from Game and places like that to extract an extra £100 from some sap who'll pay for it. I know, it's a free market and all that and if someone wants to pay over the odds cos they can't wait that's their lookout but what is the world coming to where everyone gets so hyped up by the marketing that it's worth selling your granny to get what you want NOW!!

Eeehh, when I were a lass you were lucky to get a lump of coal for Christmas, bah humbug (sucks on dentures and tuts... )

mrsratty · 06/12/2006 16:24

Apparently they have made plenty they are just staggering the delivery of them to build up hype. Or so I've been told!

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 06/12/2006 16:30

yes it says on the argos website that they are expecting many more allocations before chirstmas

DP wants one for the Mario game I think he's going hold out for a package for when it released.

housemum · 06/12/2006 16:39

Perhaps Nintendo kindly called it the Wii so you can really annoy your kids with lines such as, "do you really need a wee"/"all she wants is a wee for Xmas"/"is that your wee on the floor" etc....

housemum · 06/12/2006 23:10

Hmm - when does "guarantee" mean "we may or may not send one"??

Woolworths have just sent an e-mail stating that they are unable to despatch my Wii but will probably be able to before Christmas. Yet this morning, I was told "We are guaranteeing that the delivery will be on the week of release. I can not guarantee an exact delivery date, however the homepage clearly states 'Guaranteed delivery on week of release.' The release date at present provided by Nintendo is 08/12/06 therefore if the circumstances do not change then the delivery will be within a week of that date. " Is the cop-out that "circumstances" bit? In other words they are trying to say that they will guarantee one f they get enough. Perhaps I could guarantee that I will win the lottery, as long as circumstances mean I put the right numbers on the ticket...

springer72 · 07/12/2006 10:05

We got an automated call last night from Woolies saying that dh's Wii, which was to be delivered tomorrow, isn't coming because they can't get stock. No hint of when or if it will be coming.

I hope it won't - waste of money that we could use for so many other things!
