(when I say expensive...I mean economical...)

panasonic SD253

It is absolutely and completely worth every penny.

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 08/11/2006 07:15

and ingredients...

I dunno, I've never done a price comparason tbh.

we spend more than tescos value white sponge which we don't buy anyway, and less than artisan bread from the farmers market.

thanks...I really want one...I have pestered for one for ages but dh just goes deaf!!!!!!
I think if he ever used one or tasted the bread he'd change his mind I'm sure...
He does have a point though...I bought a food processor about four years ago and never used it again!
I think a breadmaker would be different though...we eat bread on a daily basis and I'm fed up always having to go out just to get more...we only have a standard freezer and can't fit many loaves in it!

it does sound more economical...we pay 97p a loaf of our normal bread...its more expensive than that at the village shop

OP posts:
ludaloo · 08/11/2006 07:30

lol! the food processor lurks in the back of the cupboard...it doesn't even have a plug on it anymore...been pinched for something else!!
Can't get rid of it though...I might miraculously learn how to make wonderful things in it

FillyjonkTheFireEater · 08/11/2006 07:53

oh crap, might be a 252

that sounds more right

soon I shall lope downstairs and check

its the one on sale in waitrose and...everywhere really

ludaloo · 08/11/2006 07:56

well I shall have a good look for one as 2 of you have recommended the same model...so it must be good

OP posts:
ludaloo · 08/11/2006 07:58

actually looking on your link Filly..the 252 is cheaper and seems to be very similar to the 253

OP posts:
FillyjonkTheFireEater · 08/11/2006 08:08

I probably meant the 252

shall try to remember to look today and post later

anyway there is one that is marvellous and totally worth the money, everyone in the world recommends it. We have had it 2 years and used it every day.

If youre not fussed on organic ingredients you can always use a mix. I heard Lidl do palatable ones very cheaply.

we don't use ours to make bread but use is a couple of times a weeks to make dough. I make rolls and pizza dough with it that would rival any pizzaria!

ludaloo · 08/11/2006 10:12

Hi this is ludas DH, you all seem to of gone off at a bit of a tangent,"ohhhh the 25352522 has an automatic raisin inducer" etc etc .

So I have a few questions

Purple - why do you only use yours to make dough and not actually cook bread with.

For all - Can you make dough with a food processor / blender.

Thanks this will be my one and only post, ludas a little feisty over this bread making ma-larky, good luck all and thanks for keeping her sane in the hours of daylight. Alan + face

Get one a Panasonic! We got ours in the summer and havn't bought bread since. Also we dont go to the corner shop in the evening for bread and end up buying sweets, wine or icecream either
Its so quick to make you can load it up in a tv ad break!
Kids love loading it too.

holidaymum · 08/11/2006 10:27

Just do a mumsnet search on panasonic and show him how many happy folks use it! Also read the reviews on Amazon.

ludaloo · 08/11/2006 10:29

I have a feeling he'll be checking this at work

OP posts:
ludaloo · 08/11/2006 10:38

I think he wants me to pull the unused processor out and make dough in that...rather than buying something to do the same thing...please tell me you can't make dough in a processor.....

Mr Ludaloo get a panasonic breadmaker! You get fabby cheap bread with no yukky additives. Your kids get to do lots of weighing and measuring and the pizza is divine. Ours gets used everyday. Have cupboard full of unused gadgets too, this is different.

holidaymum · 08/11/2006 10:41

Its not the same though! It keeps it at the righht temp and bakes it and everything. Faffy using processor more washing up to do. THis makes and bakes in the same tin so only one thing to wash (wipe lighhtly really) and no sticky dough left on it.
