effing playmobil - too many damn bits?

today we tidied up the playmobil house

it was a bit of a danger area - kids under the rug, wheelchairs upturned in the garden, dogs under the car, toilet in the kitchen etc etc

and every single time we do this I edit out another 100 tiny items from the Playmobil world - tiny flowers the size of a newborn's fingernail, tiny knives that I can't see without glasses (and I don't even wear glasses), tiny backpacks, remote control cars (?) and wine bottles in a crate

does anyone's kids actually play with this flotsam or is it just to keep the vacuum happy?

We've only just discovered Playmobil here(!)so I think we're still in the honeymoon phase with it.
I think I like it more than the boys tbh but then I haven't stood on any yet and nor have I hoovered upstairs where it's kept.
Give it time.

playmobil was suggested by OT fio so I went with it

i do try and keep all the tiny bits separate so that when he's more interested in them he can have them. i used to love the little guns on the cowboys.

BudaBeast · 27/10/2006 12:02

Drives me mad too - though I was the only one! Thankfully DS not too keen on it.

Molesworth · 27/10/2006 12:05

I love playmobil and I'm 38

Those little details are for the adults' appreciation

peachygoul · 27/10/2006 12:06

we have a couple of playmobil sets in school and I have to say that the answer for the really weenie bits is... superglue!

foulmoonfiend · 27/10/2006 12:07

I hate playmobil - wish I'd thought of superglue before I threw the damnfire engine out!!

Skribble · 27/10/2006 12:08

I do like play mobile but agree the little bit s a re a pain but its the little details that make the sets so good. DH loves both the italien job films so we got him the safe breaker set. And we got the advent calender, come to think of it we don't have much playmobil.

I hated tidying it up when I worked in the nurseries.

Pinkchampagne · 27/10/2006 12:08

Playmobil doesn't work in this house!
Have just put DS1's playmobil airport back in the box because it was in SO many pieces (probably due to his 3 year old brother!) & I cannot begin to try & put it all together again!

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 17:14

superglue!

so I can superglue a bottle of wine to the coffee table and then glue Playmobil Mummy to the sofa......

mind you we have about 7 mummies. Every time you got a new set you got a new mum. Few dads though. and loads and loads of babies.

It's like a house full of Playmobil Mormons

Pinkchampagne · 27/10/2006 17:16

We seem to be forever losing those little red clips that hold the bits together too!

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 17:17

the hair bobbles

ROFL @ 'Playmobil Mormons'.

Cappuccino, if you have too many babies can't you feed one to a Playmobil crocodile? There was a thread on that a few weeks ago - apparently they fit inside but then you can't get them out again

NastyNemo666 · 27/10/2006 17:23

we only have one playmobil set as yet[construction thing] but with the promise of my mum having bought a frw more bits for xmas and we have bought the pirate treasure chest thing so we shall see how the bits go esepcailly as ds is just 3 and dd will be one in dec with new baby not far behind!!!

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 17:24

Kathy we have a real live human toddler to eat the babies

does that count?

wannaBe1974 · 27/10/2006 17:27

uh oh we will shortly be entering the world of playmobil as have bought ds the air port for ihs birthday.

If only I'd known.

KathyDCLXVI · 27/10/2006 17:29

Cappuccino, yes, it will help with your Playmobil population explosion, but I imagine it would be a bit disturbing to keep finding Playmobil babies in your child's nappy.

Pinkchampagne · 27/10/2006 17:41

My DS got the airport last Christmas, Kathy.
It takes FOREVER to put together & is now in nearly as many pieces as it started with!
DS blames it on his 3 year old brother, but I think it may be a combination of the two of them!
I couldn't begin to think about putting it all together again, so it has gone for a little rest back its box!

sugarfree · 27/10/2006 20:21

Oh Nemo, the Pirate treasure chest is great!

southeastastra · 27/10/2006 20:23

playmobil is something that's worth hanging onto - save the small pieces if your child is too small for them, eventually they'll appreciate it's true value

kikidee · 27/10/2006 20:27

You're not putting me off ladies! DS will be almost 3 at Christmas - do you think he's too young for it? I can't wait to have some.

sugarfree · 27/10/2006 20:27

That's what I'm planning Southeastastra.Keep it for my dozens of grandkids.

popsycal · 27/10/2006 20:29

i censor playmobil as the box is opened
little bits get Put Away
